Team Gillman Acura - $3000 Deposit
David McDavid Acura of Austin - $500 Deposit, $499 Tint, no ADM on preorders (I went with them for now)
Looks like McDavid's playing some games. They told me they required $1,000 deposit, but they're at least consistent quoting no ADM.

Did they indicate whether your deposit is refundable?

There's a big gap between $1,500 (alleged Toyota mandatory accessories) and $8,000 (Acura of Auburn's alleged Acura-required accessories)--say MSRP is $50,000 (hopefully that's high, but trying to be realistic), $8,000 in accessories would raise the price of the car 16%... that's huge. That's CTR-level fleecing.

I suspect their $8,000 markup is the approximate total of all of the top-selling dealer accessories (emblems, carbon fiber pieces, illuminated pieces, and mats) plus junk dealership upgrades (nitrogen, ceramic coating, tint, etc.). Acura isn't installing these for you, and they don't care if you get them or not.
Each dealership is going to have its own pricing/margin on the dealership upgrade "junk" and OEM accessories, but look at these numbers from "Classic Southeast Texas":

The Dealer Addendum is priced at ($3,994.00) and includes Quantum Ceramic Coating (w/5 yr warranty), Window Tint, Splash Guards, Nitrogen Filled Tires & Wheel Locks.

Those Acura Integra Type S add-ons ($5,823.00) are:

  • 19" bronze wheels
  • TPMS sensors
  • Carbon fiber door mirror covers
  • Type S door sill trim
  • Illuminated front Acura emblem
  • Gloss black rear Acura emblem
  • Type S floor mats
  • Alternate shift knob
  • Alcantara steering wheel
  • Carbon fiber spoiler
  • Type S valve stem caps
  • Wheel locks
That's $9,817... not too far off of Acura of Auburn's $8,000 of alleged "add-ons required by Acura". I say it a lot, but anything a dealership adds to the car after it leaves the assembly line is a markup if you don't want it or didn't ask for it. Plain and simple.

no way anyone would pay that when there are so many dealers selling for msrp.
That's the point of this thread. Making those đź’©dealers standout.

CarEdge has an episode just yesterday about the worst states to buy a car currently: FL, CA, GA, TX and NJ/NY. I feel like this thread pretty much confirmed everything they are saying.

That's just appalling. I hope these dealers FAIL to sell ANY of their Type S allocations.

From these accessory lists, it looks like the bronze wheels are actually $2K more... which is absolutely insane.

You can powdercoat any color for much cheaper or just sell and get a new set of Apex VS 5RS in Championship Gold for $780 each ($3,120 total).

I would use the stock ones for winter if they were 18s, but now I'll likely have to sell.

This is a second set of wheels. So you keep the factory and they switch the tires over to the bronze set.
