I've had a lot of shipments lately where those kind of delays happen, and the item is just sitting on the delivery truck as the delivery driver chose not to deliver it that day for whatever reason. And then it shows up the next day. Maybe it will arrive today?
Too many times... sometimes, they even scan it as delivered and then drop it off the next day, lol.

This happens frequently at our house as well. Have to be patient with deliveries in these situations though I fully understand OPs reaction given the significance of needing an ECU.

The OP (me) is more concerned with this part:

And here is where that Honda/Acura tech knowledge comes in -- If I order up a new ECU, does it need to be programmed or associated with the car, etc first? Or can I have it delivered to me (or the shop doing the jailbreak) and simply drop it into the car? I'm so used to old D-series ECUs and I my searches came up blank when seeing if anyone on the FL5 side had to do a replacement.

Made it seem like it’s been missing for over a week. Guaranteed it gets delivered today.

I am not a honda tech.

But the new ECU needs to be 'married' to the vehicle. Either by cloning it from the original jailbroken ECU or by dealer service.

I was asking the same question a few weeks ago and couldn't get a solid answer, I was surprised how "cheap" the replacement was and assumed there would be a large labor cost associated with reprogramming, etc. I hope it shows up for you soon, as others have said, this has literally happened to about 25% of my part deliveries the past few months... When I tracked mine it showed up as missing, then cancelled.... Still showed up the next day just fine.

Just a suggestion, but ask Hondata what they insure it for, that should be what you are paid out for, or Hondata needs to make it right for you. But my guess is Fedex just stashed it somewhere and will find it in a day or two. Usually when something is actually lost, they catch it faster and notify you, rather than when it's misplaced.

New ECU will need to be programmed and coded into the vehicle. It is not plug and play. If you connect a new ECU the car will light up like a Christmas tree because of Can bus issues (the ECU not being there). if you had the old one then it could be cloned, but seeing how it’s missing a dealership trip is in your future. Just buy the ECU at one dealer or online and take it to a different dealer for programming and coding. Prices can range a good amount. I’d expect $300+ for programming and coding.

So, mind if I use your ECU since you didn't live up to your guarantee? ;-)

Just a quick update. UPS hasn't found it and hasn't delivered it. There was also no record of the "tracer" they supposedly opened on Thursday. We supposedly started that process again today.

The company that jailbroke the ECU (not Hondata itself) ordered a new ECU but it's on national backorder (of course). They did take a backup of my unit before jailbreaking it, so there's a chance that, assuming UPS can't track down my original unit, they may be able to restore my image to a new one. Meanwhile, I doubt I'll be on-track at Road Atlanta this weekend, but I just got a call that their announcer is out of town and would like me to sit in. <sigh>

Hoping one of the Honda/Acura techs here will know the answer. I sent my ECU off to be jailbroken (which was done). The shop overnighted it via UPS and they lost / misplaced the package (it was scanned into the distro center closest to my house).

And here is where that Honda/Acura tech knowledge comes in -- If I order up a new ECU, does it need to be programmed or associated with the car, etc first? Or can I have it delivered to me (or the shop doing the jailbreak) and simply drop it into the car? It's kinda urgent as I have an event at Road Atlanta next weekend and I currenly own a 3000lb unstartable hunk o' metal & plastic.
You ever get your ECU delivered or did you get a new one and need to get it programmed to your car?
Stories like these are what makes me hesitant to ship off my ECU..
anyone know if I can clone my stock ECU to a new one myself or is dealer only software required? Want to jailbreak mine but also want to keep an original factory ECU..
been through 4 chipped P28 ECU's on my EG so I am happily ready to keep a known good OEM one standing by..

UPS lost the ECU. and has finally paid out on the claim to the tuner (though he has yet to receive the checque that UPS says was mailed a week ago). The tuner has has been excellent to work with and ordered a replacement with his local dealer but they're on national backorder. Given the limited number of cars being produced and limited need for replacements I'm not surprised that Honda/Acura hasn't fed many or any into into the dealer network.

So we're now at 3 full weeks complete with a 3000lb hunk o' metal just takin' up space in my driveway. On the bright side, it's allowed me to get back behind the bars of my motorcycle.
