Oil Analysis at 5k (Blackstone Labs Report)

I’d say about 30/70 hwy to city. My work commute is 20 min city with few trips less than that. I don’t beat on the car but enjoy the midrange, if that makes sense. Average about 23 mpg.

Has anyone tried one of those oil extractor pumps that feed into the dipstick line on this car? Heard they work great on some engines, not so great on others. I'm planning on changing oil every 3000, oil and filter every 6k. Would be nice to only go under the car once every 6k.

thanks for sharing!!! are those aluminum and copper numbers acceptable for the long term? i get it'll get flushed out with oil changes but i was leaning towards going with the manufacturer's recommended interval at 10k miles.

As much as I want to follow manufacturer guidelines, it makes me queasy not changing oil at 3000 miles on a brand new engine that I do track stuff with. Call it jumping the gun but I had the dealership go forth and changed it ~3k miles. I don't put many miles at all on this car, only at about 3800 now. I'll probably stick to the ~3k miles rule.

Sent mine in around the same mileage. Need to another change very soon. I’m just below 10k.

I did not use the extractor. I simply put the bottle under the oil while draining when it was about halfway through.

This next time I will at least warm the car up slightly before sampling.

Frankly I do not understand this thinking. I had a scientist from Caltech tell me that filtering the oil is much more important than worrying about the oil not being able to do its job anymore. Plus an oil filter is much less expensive than 6 quarts of synthetic oil.

If you want to make getting under the car more convenient, then build a set of ramps or pick some up. The under shield is a little annoying, sure, but not as bad as folks make it out to be.

Good report so far. In other applications, the previous gen Accord and current gen RDX, fuel dilution seems to be more troubling....especially with short trips. I imagine ITS owners try to get the car up to full operating temp and let it stretch it's legs. Keep in mind, that Blackstone isn't the best at measuring fuel dilution; maybe try another lab like Polaris or Oil Analyzers for more accuracy on that.

The 1.5T in the regular Integra is going to be the troublesome fuel diluter for sure. Depending on how you drive and how far down the rabbit hole you want to go, maybe try a nice 0/5W-30 once fully broken in/outside of the free dealership changes. If the sky is the limit, look at HPL (High Performance Lubricants) or Amsoil Signature Series for drain intervals beyond what more mere mortals think is possible.

I'd never thought about doing it but I saw an interview with the lead designer of the Nissan GTR and that's his recommendation. Filter won't have as much work to do if you change the oil at 3k. It's probably total overkill changing anything before 5k miles anyway but I'm trying for the easiest way to keep this car pristine while driving it relatively hard.

Hearing about the fuel dilution in the 1.5t is what leads me to want to change the oil more frequently. Filter won't do anything about that.

I have about 14,200 miles on my car and did the first oil change at like 3900. After that I have had it done every 5k. Just had my third one done.

Picking up my ITS tomorrow. How frequently will Dealers honor the free oil change maintenance during the free 24/24? Will they do it every 5K miles?
