it’s the polished piece not the piano blackIt's pretty easy to pop off, just do so and wrap or paint it. I painted mine black for now. It's a relatively cheap part if you want to experiment with a spare instead. Also, you can order the FL5 steering wheel trim piece to get rid of the polished metal on the steering wheel. I was thinking of trying to get a matching wrap for the shifter surround (gunmetal) but been lazy. That part is easy to access as well, but taping up the Type-R emblem to paint would be a pain.
I am talking about the polished piece, if you are talking about the piano black, it's similar, most do a CF overlay, vinyl wrap, or Overland's Alcantra piece. There is going to be a true CF replacement part from one of the retailers shortly as well.
Right- the "titanium" knob being a slightly different shade of grey pissed off my wife the second she saw it, and that of course incepted the idea in me that it "could be better".it’s the polished piece not the piano black
can you share a pic of it painted black?
I have the Acura titanium shift knob and it kinda bothers me a bit that it’s a different shade/material than the trim so that might be a cool option
If you mean the gloss black around the shifter, I agree it was very distracting, I went with overland designs replacement for mine, otherwise I dent have an issue with the rest of the shifter set up.Depending on the angle of the sun the shifter trim reflects the sun right into my eyes or my passengers eyes.
We had a laugh about it but got me thinking, anyone else run into this?
it’s usually later in the afternoon
It's definitely not the gloss black for me. I'm not a huge fan of gloss black either, but that's not what catches the sun and throws it right back in your eye, it's the metal around the shifter. If you mean the gloss black around the shifter, I agree it was very distracting, I went with overland designs replacement for mine, otherwise I dent have an issue with the rest of the shifter set up.
