Installed SiriMoto clutch damper delete + JSR Engines clutch slave cylinder w/ clutch delay valve delete
I’m much happier with the more direct clutch engagement feel now.
Also installed FL5 steering wheel trim; đź‘Ž to piano black and also the mirror-like bottom trim that would sometimes...
I’m currently using this to mount my phone during track time: Headrest Phone/Tablet Mount
will swap to this one when I install the Recaro coming in a couple months: Single side headrest phone/tablet mount
Incoming Recaro:
This was Monday night (9/30)
Swapped out OEM front and rear brake pads with Paragon P3 front and rear. OEM front pads still had decent life left, about twice the thickness of wear indicator mark, although inner pads were wearing faster than outer; but rear pads were almost at wear indicator...
Coolant temp gauge hit 5 bars toward end of last session at track day on 9/8 at Streets of Willow clockwise—happens at 1m02s into the posted lap video. 7 laps in of my 6th and final 20-minute session of the day at about 2:30 PM, outside temperature was showing 106°F on the instrument cluster...
I do this, I mix 91 with 101 to get 93 at the Sunol Super Stop gas station in NorCal. I use this website to determine how much to mix: 93 Octane Mix Calculator
I checked with the attendant to make sure that the 101 is unleaded, make sure you do the same (pretty sure it will be unleaded though)...
I made the purchase for a seat + rail from a vendor called LMTLS auto, they have driver and passenger recaro seat brackets for FL5, which I’m assuming is a direct fit for us. Here is link to their recaro section
they said 6 month turnaround time, I preordered/special order
I did the same thing. For others wanting to do the same, it is not a 100% drop in; there will be a gap between the bottom of this shift knob and the ITS lock nut; either go aftermarket lock nut + retaining clip, or if you’re weird about keeping it OEM (🙋‍♂️ me), will have to get FK8 lock nut and...
For the wet I opted to put it in individual (engine: sport + // steering: sport + // suspension: comfort). My understanding is that for wet surface/low grip for track days, more compliant suspension is better. I was also running with the stock PS4S tires
For dry track days l do full sport +...
Very unique experience, and you’re correct, it was a good teaching exercise in smooth inputs (steering, acceleration, braking) in order to stay on a good line. I kept VSA on reduced, not pedal dance, which was helpful; got some oversteer a few times, and great training on how to react to it
I can’t speak on what scanners the dealer uses, I just know that it has more capabilities than the puny Bluetooth dongle one I have. Perhaps @NecroFIesh can chime in, he’s a dealer tech, if I’m not mistaken
After getting fuel starvation codes, I cleared codes with a code reader, but pops and bangs did not come back. Had to take the car into dealer for them to clear the codes (under warranty), and everything was good after that
I use them for track duty; their performance compared to the stock PS4S is night and day. The PS4S start losing performance and get “greasy” after about a lap, the SC2 get faster and faster. Can’t speak on them for DD, aside from the fact that it’s not recommended to use them during wet...
SC2s have been excellent so far on track for me; I’m BARELY scratching the surface of the beginning of their limits. They are my dedicated track tires, though (on FL5 forged accessory rims). I went with them because they were vaguely marketed as an optional accessory for the FK8/FL5, so maybe a...
No workaround, in my experience. Pedal dance activates service mode for VSA, which I assume the car treats like a warning, so no full-time access to the other gauges. Happens to me too, I can only briefly check on tire pressures while on track after pedal dance by one-click roll
