These things are impossible to reliably diagnose remotely, but the video you sent sounded similar to the noise that my car made due to the mount. Itās pretty easy to confirm for anyone with a wrench set and a way to safely get under the front end of the car. Worst case, checking that mount...
Didnāt matter if cold or warm. The mount was broken enough to make noise all the time. Moderate accel/decel at low speed made the sound more apparent because it didnāt have to compete with road and wind noise.
Yeah, the RMM fixed this issue.
I got rid of the car last week, though. It also had the sticky steering problem for which the dealer said a replacement part wouldnāt be available until September. That plus the myriad other lingering build quality issues were slowly driving me insane. Honda...
Did you watch the short video in post #9? With the car in the air and the engine tray removed it will become obvious. That mount is next to the exhaust.
My service advisor told me to check in if I havenāt heard from him in a week or two, so I just did. He said the part is backordered until September. Might be able to get it pulled up as early as June. Yay!
I think Iām done with this car and with Acura. Soon as I figure out what else I want...
I struggle to make sense of the part numbers. My ā23 6MT (December ā23 build date) with sticky steering is fitted with an original rack thatās labeled 53600-3S5-A35-M1. (Emphasis added.)
No, Iām in east TN. But I know of Gary Force. According to Carfax, my car was originally delivered there and came to Knoxville via a dealer swap.
I wonder if Acura is trying to head off a NHTSA investigation in the US. This is a potential safety issue which seems to be fairly common. Not sure...
New steering rack ordered š. SA said theyāve done three of them this week alone. I get the impression that Acura is being proactive about this issue when it comes in. I also think my dealer may be doing a a little extra on their end to take care of this one on account of how often Iām in there...
I mentioned this problem when I dropped my car off this morning for an unrelated repair. Encouragingly, the service advisor is familiar with the problem and knows what they have to look for. However he was clear that they (understandably) have to confirm the problem themselves. 50/50 chance I...
I finally have an appointment to fix my engine mount issue next week so Iāll mention the steering problem then. It comes and goes so Iām not expecting much from the dealer.
After a really disappointing first year with this car Iām in the same boat. Iāve gone as far as to test drive a couple...
If the mount is hanging up then it probably isnāt going in straight. Try rocking the engine forward to get the mountās front bolt into its slot. That should get the mount aligned well enough to go the rest of the way into its bracket on the front subframe.
I'd talk to local tint shops. Having my entire windshield tinted was less than $200 on top of the rest of the car. A tint strip would probably be cheap and a good shop will work with you to get it the way you want it.
This looks like a fun project. The general level of road noise in my A-Spec isnāt that big of a deal to me but reducing it would certainly improve the car. Appreciate the info!
I haven't yet heard a peep out of the dealer about a replacement part, but that silicone spray has kept the noise down for the two weeks since I figured this out. It's so nice not having to listen to that. I realized that I had been unconsciously shifting weird in low gears because of it. I'm...
Last weekend I took the passenger door panel off looking for a rattle that went away when I pushed to the rear of the door handle area. I mostly noticed it on warm days while taking right-hand sweeping corners. I discovered that a "plastic weld" (white nub in the middle of the photo, above the...
I'm happy with the Orchid interior after a year. The microfiber stuff likes to pick up lint and fuzz, but I haven't noticed any dye transfer, staining, or unusual wear.
I think I've started experiencing this in my '23 ASpec that just crossed 12,000mi. What I'm feeling is as if the steering rack "goes to sleep" whenever I drive straight ahead, and it takes a few degrees of movement before it "wakes up" and gives me power assist again. It hasn't prevented me...
