Picked my ITS up last Thursday with 8 miles on it. Had a full tank from dealership. Was about 100 miles highway back from the dealer and the rest of the mileage has been city driving the last few days.. Wanna take her over 4k on the tach but I am sure the break in period patience will pay off. took pic with engine off so ignore warning lights.. (curious note its in sports mode with engine off.. LOL)

It starts in sport mode unless you had it in confort when you turned it off.

Only another 357 mines to break in!

Picked up my DE5 yesterday with 6 miles on the odometer. Dealer stated "there is no break in period" so first redline was at 40 mi lol. Already took it up to the canyons today to bed the brake pads in. It's a superb car and really glad I picked it over the FL5.

After talking to more dealers in the past 4 months that I have in my entire life I have learned that car salesmen in general are about as trustworthy as a lawyer.
it is true that with today's clean machining that "breakin periods" are not as vital as they used to be with small burrs that needed to be shimmed during the breaking period and no longer exist. Today's break-in is more about the rings properly sealing against any small imperfections. really only trying to prevent it from burning oil more as it ages. moot point if you dont plan on keeping the car when it gets some real mileage on it. I just hit 500 miles tonight and pretty sure I am gonna just let her loose soon!! Good luck with yours.

North Austin told me the same thing. More
Or less just backed up what I was gonna do anyways.

I'm probably not going to be keeping the car more than 3-4 years anyways so might as well drive it the way I want while the warranty is active. That's my mentality anyways.

On this subject matter, it's not that they are trying to be deceptive. They simply just don't have the necessary expertise to be a reliable source of information. My nephew as a salesman for Nissan and I wouldn't trust him regarding vehicle break-in periods. He only has a high school diploma and hasn't done any research in this area. You are correct...it's just not a good idea to trust a salesman on engineering matters.

I had my sales guy and the paper work guy both tell me didn’t require a break it, paper work guy was a car guy we chatted about all the cars from our youths.

When I got my Evo I was given a clear break in with written instructions. If there was a true break-in they would/could have programmed it into the cars computer or some kinda clear peal stickers in the Custer with instructions. “IMO as the kids say”.

C8 Corvettes have their tachometer redline set at 2000 RPM below the true redline for the first 500 miles. You can still exceed it but it's there to let you know. Then afterwards it goes to normal. This is good practice for folks concerned about break-in.

Perhaps a silly question, but when do you guys refuel your ITS?

Given that I now have a smaller tank than in the past and fewer mpg, I'm going to be refueling way more often.

I drive about 500 miles a week and with my Subie would refuel when the range was down to 100 miles. If I were to do that now I would have to refuel very, very often.

What do you guys do?

TIA

I take it down to two bars left or so. About 200 mile range. Yeah it's definitely the only gripe I have with the car. I need a mishimoto fuel tank😂

I live less than 2 miles from Sams Club where I get 93 octane at a decent price so I don't fill up until the last bar.. I would have to say on a road trip not knowing how close the next gas station is would make me a little anxious so I think I would try not to let it get less than half a tank.
