Ive had the Prinsu on other builds, and have one coming for this build, super nice quality product, great customer service if you have a question.

Yea, I have the Prinsu on my 3rd gen Tacoma but have heard good things about the Westport stuff. Didn’t know if it was worth the switch.

If you're talking about the Westcott full roof rack that has sort of a solid surface of "pegboard" panels and no crossbars, it's interesting for the flexibility it would have in attaching things. But I'm not sure how you'd be able to easily clean underneath all these panels or dry it after a car wash so you'd have a lot of hard water spots built up on the roof over the years. Maybe the company could do a video on this.

A 3rd one I came across is called "The Capitol" from sherpaec.com but it's not shipping yet. I can't find any pics of a top view of this rack, which is a fail on the part of the maker. Just seeing low side views is not very helpful.

The Prinsu Pro (also can't find a top view but it looks like it has 9 cross-members) looks well made but I would have liked to see some holes in the cross members for either hook-end straps or large rope knots.

call me ignorant but my 4runner came with roof rails and I use a roof top box for luggage storage, can a rooftop box be used on the roof racks your talking about? Or is it just for putting a tire and other items up top?

I ended up going with the Prinsu Pro, the sale and free shipping played a big part in that decision. I do like Westcotts molle panels better as I don't like how Prinsu's go past the windows. I understand it gives you more room to mount things but think it looks weird.

post pics when you can! It would be super appreciated if you could measure the space from side to side and front to back of useable space.

Hi! Which rooftop box do you use? I was gifted one and it's a Yakima 16 cubic ft and I can't get it to fit. The rails are too far towards the back of the vehicle and the tailgate will hit the box when I open it. I even adjusted the cross bars to try to solve this issue but no luck.

I have the yakima SkyBox 16 Carbonite. Guess I'll be doing a test fit tomorrow. On mine you can adjust the "feet" of the box forward or back to help fit. Also how far open can you go before the tailgate hits? There are adjustment settings like if you can do 90% not a bid deal to set it for that during a trip

I did actually adjust the feet too and I just couldn’t make it work. I hope there is a way that I overlooked. I’d love to know how to adjust the tailgate to open 90%.
Here’s a pic of my attempt at the rooftop box. I can’t get the feet to match the crossbars without pushing the box back further.

I'm pretty sure both these apply but at this time of the night I'm too lazy to go outside and double check. I do remember seeing the first option because I was worried about it hitting my garage and left it alone.

Ahh, that would be awesome except I don’t have a power back gate. I’ll try the first way, but I don’t think it’ll work. Thanks for sharing that video though. I’ll keep searching for answers! :)
