Curious if anybody has found or rigged up a tow hook, either front or rear. Just did my first track day with the car, and the org I ran with (and will likely continue to run with) requires tow hooks for intermediate run groups and above.

I also watched a guy in an S4 fly straight off into the gravel. He was able to make it out under his own power, but I'm not sure I'd be able to do the same with only one set of drive wheels. It'd definitely be good to have just for piece of mind, let alone the tracks that require them.

Type S has front tow hooks, but they’re not on the front of the vehicle. They’re on the underside and only meant for flat surface towing. You would have to fabricate something. From the service manual:

Right, I probably should have specified "other than the front two underneath". I'll be required to have a prominent hook either front or rear once I'm bumped out of the intro run group, and those guys won't cut it. Looks like I'll have to go the custom route.

Copy that on the built in tow hooks. Guess I should have checked the manual first. These will suffice for my Track organizer.

Anyone who resolves this via custom fabrication please post in here so it can serve as a reference for others who want to do the same.

I didn't think I was going to get serious with track stuff, but after seeing some videos of how all it takes is one idiot in a run group to nearly ruin a whole track outing, I realized I need to get out of the novice groups ASAP and I would like to get ahead of any hangups (no pun intended).

Note: To be clear, I'm sure I've been that idiot on occasion when learning to drive on track- but I've seen instances of intentional, repeated douchebaggery and that's the type of crap I'm referring to. Most of these assholes can't make it into the intermediate groups, so I want to do what I can to get away from them...

Even intermediate groups have a few morons. Also interesting to see the wide variety of cars. some are slow and some are really fast. I love the guy in the Camaro ZL1 that corners slow and hammers it in the straights. you reel them in, and they still don't feel like they should let you pass. For the most part the events I've been too are pretty good. Most everyone in the intermediate level is courteous.

Yeah it all depends on the group you land with; my one and only time out in this car was with a novice group and they were great, everyone was super courteous and one guy even came up and apologized for not letting me pass sooner- and he definitely wasn't egregious about anything, he was just really polite.

Funny you mention ZL1 because I have encountered that exact same issue with a ZL1... and yeah I imagine there would be far more of the faster cars but slower drivers in the intermediate group.

911 Turbos are probably another offender. Just a personal opinion, but I don't see why anyone who likes to actually drive would actively choose a 911 Turbo when they could have gotten a myriad of better driver's cars, including a GT3... sure, I get that GT3 allocations are harder to come by than Turbos, but even a base Carrera would be a better driver's car than a Turbo or Turbo S. Just far too much power, and not enough engagement. Perfect recipe for the "slow in the corners but too fast to let you pass in the straights" you're talking about... to me a Turbo S is barely better than a Tesla, but 3x as expensive... I just don't see the appeal at all.

Neither do FL5s in the front. This is a bracket that attaches to the crash bar.
Oh dang. For some reason I thought they had a spot already.
