Let me say that I love this car. I’ve never had more fun driving a car, but my god are the rattles everywhere in this car. Driver door, glovebox, dash, engine idle. I know there’s not a lot of sound deadening material, but the interior build quality of this thing is just terrible. My GTi that cost less than half what this car does was more solid.

I’m one that notices interior rattles and would let them irk me. I have also owned both the MK6 & MK7 GTI and completely agree with you.

My 7th gen GTI was assembled in Mexico. Although build quality wasn’t up to MK6 standards was mostly rattle free.

The 6th gen GTI was assembled in Wolfsburg, Germany. That thing felt like a buttoned up mini Bentley compared to our current cars. Both GTI around $30k.

Yep my 7.5 was $25k and nothing as bad from a build quality with it coming from Mexico. I’ve been better about not getting too irritated with the rattles cause the cars so fun to drive, but I had a new engine rattle during idling pop Up tonight and they’re all driving me crazy again.

Pretty much no rattles over here. Heard something in the passenger door for a day or so, but knock on wood, I'm clear. Also running a prl rear motor mount which has added some vibration at idle, but still nothing.

Hate that you guys have issues.

I do agree on the GTI though. Just felt more solid for some reason.

I have plenty of rattles. I turn the music up or open the windows and they disappear.
My windows rattle if they're not totally up or totally down, and when I turn the music up the passenger door speaker surround starts to rattle after a bit. That said, i drive my family around a lot and they don't appreciate music blasting or windows down in winter.

As part of one of my winter projects I plan to tear down the entire interior and add both vibration dampening and sound dampening material.

Also former gti owner here. I had an autobahn gti and it felt rock solid. Doors closed with authority. Seats were incredibly comfortable. Tech was incredible for it's time and the swivel headlights were something else. I saw that red stripe on your gti headlights @StingertimeNC so I know you know! I hope you got your kid the osram cbb bulbs 😉

Does anybody have a rattle from what looks like the microphone grill (next to the sunglasses holder) on the overhead console? Mine is physically loose and buzzes at 4500-5500rpm.

The rattles and buzzing don't bother me too much, but when my family and friends ride in the car it's a little embarrassing for being a new "luxury" Sportscar lol.

I agree just turn on the bass heavy system to jam out.
I'm not mentioning my rattles in order to prevent pointing out new ones to you guys.

Turning headlights on the GTIs is a feature i miss for sure.

What a bunch of snowflakes.

All cars rattle one way or another. Turn up the volume and drive.
You aren't going to be sleeping in it anyway.
Totally possible to read a thread, not comment, and move along with your day. Get fucking grip dude.

Appears I got lucky. I had to add a little foam to a plug under the dash (and the seatbelts rattle), but that's it.

I wonder if the newer model (MY25+) years have better quality control. Looking to upgrade to ITS in the future if all those problems are solved.

I have had no rattles as of now. Knock on wood but I am also only 1400 miles in. We shall see.

You raise good points all around. The rattling drove me nuts at first, especially for a brand new car. My friend who is really into Hondas said it is sort of par for the course with Honda/Acura to have rattles. Good luck with the vibration dampening. I am sure you will get it sorted!
