For the hybrid mostly. And our 2010 SR5 is getting old. More oomph would be good.

What I'd really prefer is the 3rd gen body style with modern tech. The 4Runner has bulked up and I don't like it. Our 1997 SR5 was awesome, but it began to require too much maintenance. I get jealous when I see a 3rd gen on the road.
I also would love a third gen with modern tech.

Why do you want the hybrid? Its 400 pounds and 2800$ for a tiny improvement in city fuel economy. It just seems like such an obviously bad deal.

Had to back out of 1/21 order which was Underground SR-5 4WD, when I saw the manual seats, not used to that, all 4R's we have had, electric.
Changed to Premium, attached. Delivery : Maybe 3 months.
The Prices shown, can and will change, no incentives at this time.

In essence you're paying at least 12k to get power seats.

I'd be coming to the 4Runner from a 2021 Bronco Badlands. I loved the Bronco (just sold it), but the quality just wasn't there. At only 10k miles, a lot of little things were going wrong or falling apart. If the Bronco was built as well as Toyotas, it would be my choice. I wish there was a serious off-road focused 4Runner that wasn't at the absolute top of the pricing structure.

You could pick up SR5 and build it up to be seriously off-road worthy? You'd get to enjoy the process too. There'll be no lack of 4R aftermarket products to suit your needs that's for sure :ROFLMAO:

That's true, but a TRD OR with a few options would be perfect for me if they'd offer it with SDM. Maybe for 2026... Edit: Even if they weren't crazy expensive, the TRD Pro and Trailhunter both have features that I really dislike (like the boy racer TRD interior and the snorkel). I prefer the OR.

Replacing my 2012 Subaru STi here. I've been driving subaru's for just about the last 20 years and have previously owned a built up 1986 1st gen 4Runner (see left). I've been wanting to get back into the SUV and 4Runner game for several years and was close to picking up a 5th gen but when the 6th gen was announced I immediately knew that was the route i wanted to take. I appreciate that the 5th gen is proven and bullet proof but i really wanted updated tech and the new 4Runner has it everywhere! Coming from subaru turbo powerplants I'm also probably in the rare subset of folk who is actually excited about the turbo-hybrid drivetrain going into the new generation.
I was stoked when I found out about the TURBO 2.4 (22re fan here). I also had for a year a VW TDI 1.9 ALH and that tiny turbo was awesome.
People don't realize that Turbos come a LONG way and Toyota has been using them for DECADES>
And nothing drive like a SUBARU. Wife has a 18' forester and that think has been coast to coast in serious weather and it's magical.

How many miles now? Pics? Love early 4th gens (yah I'm one of the ones that preferred the pre refresh)
190k. A deer decided to jump in front of the truck a couple weeks back so now after $5k, the front end is like new!! Thanks to the high resale value on 4Runners, it wasn’t “totaled” by insurance!!!

Incredible toughness and reliability! Are you keeping the 4th gen or is the 6th gen replacing it?

Hey JMurg, I bought a '25 ORP. In fact, it was built yesterday, shipping to US on 2/8, should arrive 2/21 and I'll see it between the 3rd week of March and the 1st week of April or so I was told. The '07 is my daughters now. I think the value of the truck just went up $7-10k. New AC, temp sensor, headlights, bumper, grill and a repainted and clear-coated hood (which it needed badly). We have never had an issue with that engine or transmission.

I’m getting one for sure. I’m between the TRD OR Premium IForce Max and the Platinum. I’m waiting however to drive both trims and see which one will work better for me. I’m in no hurry to be the first and I figure by Summer there will be a healthy supply of these on most dealer lots.

Congrats on your incoming ORP! What color / add-on accessories?

And to your daughter for inheriting the 2007.

Thanks! It's Everest color with sunroof. I'm super excited. On the options my dealer was able to get a few PIO's removed saving over a grand and there are some I wanted and some I don't really need but it's not end of the world: Coin holder, door edge guards, key gloves, mudguards, all-weather mats, black badge overlay for the front Toyota logo and the inserts/overlay for the rear wording in Bronze (which I think will look really cool over the Everest color), cargo tote, side storage LED lantern, cross bars and 18" black wheels. I didn't want the black wheels but I think it will work out better since I'm not a fan of that black with the machine finish silver outline rims that come standard on the model.

I have always wanted a 4Runner, starting with the 3rd Gen and fell in love with the 4th Gen. But they came out when I was finishing school, starting my career and paying off student loan debt; a 4Runner was not in the budget. When I got in a position where I could get one the 5th gen was out. I wasn't a fan of its design and figured I would get one when they got redesigned.

When I was shopping for a new vehicle that could haul and tow I looked at my dream vehicle of course but although the facelift Limited did look better, the tech and powertrain were getting dated. I ended up getting a good deal on a F-150 and bought that. No big regrets but now I realize that a SUV like a 4Runner would suit my needs better with an enclosed cargo area and the ability to tow my utility trailer.

Just a few days ago I saw that the 6th gen was released and when I saw the Limited I knew I wanted one, white with the portobello interior. The design of mixing the modern face of Toyota trucks (Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia), while basically carrying over the 5th gen's rear end and the retro rear side window that goes into the roof is beautiful. It brings back the love I had for the 4th gen.

With 9 trims offered it's easy to find one just right for your needs. The Limited checks all the boxes for me. It has modern tech with the big screen, digital instrumentation, and wireless Apple CarPlay but doesn't over do it. There are still hard buttons for the HVAC and many other functions without having to drill down in menus on the screen to make adjustments. I don't like panoramic sunroofs and it has a traditional old school sunroof.

I'm probably in the minority that likes the 4 cylinder turbo engine. Although the old 4.0 V6 was bulletproof reliable, it was over 20 years old and time for retirement. I don't understand the hate for the 4 cylinder since the 4Runner and Toyota trucks started as 4 cylinders. Although the old 22RE wasn't a powerhouse and made the 4Runner underpowered but was a great reliable engine. Folks also are apprehensive about the turbo's reliability as if Toyota didn't make the Supra Turbo with the 2JZ engine or the Celica Turbo and MR2 Turbo with the 3S-GTE engine. Toyota knows how to make a good turbocharged engine. From what I've seen about the new T24A engine it's built in the Toyota fashion of being overbuilt, as simple as possible, and under stressed . Although it's new and modern with turbocharging, dual injection and VVT-i, it's still as simple as you can make an engine today. Time will tell but being that's it's a part of the Dynamic Force engine family it should be very reliable. The A25A has been extremely reliable since its introduction in 2018 and the T24A is basically the turbocharged version of the that engine.

I'm going for the non-hybrid engine because I don't see the purpose of the extra complexity if it doesn't give you a significant increase in fuel efficiency. I understand that Toyota's hybrid max system is for power not efficiency but that not why I would get a hybrid. The turbo 4 is more than adequate for the 4Runner and from experience I know it will cheaper to maintain due to its simplicity and size. There is so much room under the hood of the 4Runner with the non-hybrid maintenance and repairs will be less labor intensive and even DIY friendly.

I'm sure a new one won't be in my driveway for many months but I look forward to bringing one home eventually. There is something special about finally getting your dream vehicle.
