Speaking of Invidia, just saw the boys over at the FL5 forums announce a new option. Checked out a few fk8 videos for reference and the volume and tone sound pretty good for street use.
Bringing this thread back up to the top.
I have the shorter 5000TL and have been using the frame extenders to get under the ITS for lifting. I can just barely able to get the blocks to fit under the car with that setup at stock heigh. Now that the car is lowered it's impossible to get the...
I agree, I came into this platform expecting a $1200 system so there was a bit of sticker shock when pricing was released for the new systems.
My brother just picked up an Invidia system for his Z for roughly half the price of my MBRP. Fully polished, perfect fit, and even came with a spring...
Absolutely a valid concern.
For what it's worth, MBRP is under $2k from our friends at @Unity Performance. It ships for free and no sales tax stateside. There is a burnt tip option (though not titanium) and if you want polished, rolled tips it's another $240 or so for a set.
You know I was thinking, what's really stopping anyone from buying a FL5 exhaust and just extending the tips a few inches? They all have the same mounting points so technically our list of options is longer than it actually is.
OK I made it to page 9 on the FL5 forums before I gave up lol. Mainly because I felt the content started to get detailed and was beyond the scope of what I'm looking for out of the car.
I have a spare ECU and plan on cloning, unlocking, and loading the tune to the spare. My primary goals are...
I've come back to reconsider my position. Been driving with auto rev match off for the past 2 weeks and can conclusively say it's a better driving experience for me. Revs drop quicker and the clutch line mods I've done have a more pronounced, direct effect. I'm able to modulate the pedal better...
It gets..."rowdy" with exhaust mods, I feel even a mild system would accentuate the pops.
A Harley rode past me today and though it was just one loud *POP* from his exhaust, it was definitely a little jarring. I imagine this is what our cars sound like when opened up. I love it but I use...
Insurance or pay out of pocket is really your best bet. You could probably buy a used unit and spend an afternoon replacing it for about what your insurance deductible is. I recommend PPF for headlights also!
It's crazy how minor exhaust mods really wake up the pops and bangs. It's a whole other level. I wonder if they anticipated owners would mod their exhausts when they engineered the pops
