Corolla GR first choice
Type R second (waiting to see production model)
Integra Type S (waiting to see production model).
Nothing else remotely interests me, but if forced to buy something not on this list I'd probably get the new Si.
I generally prefer comparison tests, cause that forces them to pick a winner, although usually they love every car anyway. When a car magazine subscription costs $1/issue, itās not the readers paying the bills.
I thought that review was stupid. How can you compare two reviews taken years apart, probably different surfaces, different weather - and say 0.2 sec 1/4 mi difference is statistically significant.
Ignore that nonsense. Everyone seems to love it so far.
Is this confirmed that the Integra is 7ā longer for just cosmetic bumpers, not increased trunk space or something? Cause thatās ridiculous if itās 7ā of bumper thickness.
Right now the Type R is top on my list especially if they go down to 19s, keep it moonroof free and have the Bose audio. Then itās pretty much perfect except for the Pep Boys spoiler. I like that itās 7ā shorter but still very roomy with a big trunk.
To get the Type S instead it would need...
Cool, Iām not sure the Subaru system works the same since itās not FWD based, but a rear LSD would sure be nice like on our first gen WRX. That car was so controllable in snow. Cost cutting.
I love the LSD in my Si compared to the Sport hatch I had before. Dry, wet, snow, all much better.
Is someone who wants a 6mT and LSD not going to look at Elantra N, GTI, Corolla GR, WRX? - please donāt say itās not LSD like the other guy, itās AWD, doesnāt need a front LSD. I guess we can add Mustang and Camaro since itās now as big as those cars.
I personally donāt want any of those except...
Do you think an entry level Mercedes or Audi buyer knows the weight or the car? Or cares? Yes, the 1.5T and lighter weight will win magazine comparisons but ask Mazda how that translates to sales.
Iām here cause I used to love Acura, had a ā97 GSR sedan before moving on to rear drive BMWs. I...
Its a Civic Si with nicer interior at least in base form. I think it competes with both my list and yours, although Acura probably likes your list better lol. Probably needs a 2.0T to compete with those.
wow I must have struck a nerve to make you create a half dozen straw men to argue with.
I just pointed out that the Integra is longer than pretty much all itās competition. Or are you saying itās no longer a sport compact, now itās a GT car?
Right, I donāt get why Hondas have to grow so much every generation. The Civic is already roomy with a huge trunk. Maybe nobody buys the Accord cause itās huge. Everyone I know who owns an accord drives around by themselves. People who need a ton of space buy SUVs.
Lets see:
GTI is 17ā shorter than Integra
Corolla hatch is 14ā shorter
Elantra N is 2ā shorter
Kona N is 20ā shorter
New WRX is 5ā shorter
Mazda 3 Turbo hatch is 10ā shorter.
So no, GR86 is not the only option.
My Si is already annoyingly long. I liked my Sport hatch better in that respect.
There's just too many negatives piling up - 10th gen hatch looks better, but I'm ok with the 11th gen Civic hatch. But the Integra looks worse, costs more and is 5" longer - too many negatives.
If I stick with...
I've no interest in an accord, cause it's huge. Mustang is huge but it's got a 6mT V8, so I can excuse it. The Civic doesn't have a V8.
If the Integra is really 5" longer than the new hatch, I'm not interested. The Type R is still on the table, as is the GR Corolla.
Just read that the Integra is 1-2" longer than the sedan. That's a show stopper for me, I thought it was shorter like the Civic hatch. Not looking for a stretch limo.
