I'm one of the handful whose card was charged but no confirmation was sent, and I just talked to the GM of the dealer I've been working with. His understanding of the situation is that those who were charged but did not receive confirmations are on the waitlist. However, Acura disallowed anyone...
Ay, welcome to the club! Based on how poorly that process was handled by the third party system, I'm beginning to question whether my card info is even secure with them. That level of ineptitude doesn't bode well for security.
I just emailed Acura corporate mentioning the horrendous rollout of that reservation process, and I implore others to do the same. There is frankly no excuse for a "Premium" brand to drop the ball that hard on something so simple.
Right? I work in IT for a government agency, and our budget for infrastructure is far lower than Acura's, but I guarantee any of our sites would be capable of handling the level of traffic they received. That process was an embarrassment.
Well I entered my card info and submitted, then got an error. Tried again and same thing, but I've got two pending charges so I'm hoping that's sufficient.

Funny how it seems like the most vocal people in these threads are the ones who have already committed to not buying one. Seems like a lot of people trying to just pat themselves on the back for bEInG FiSCaLly reSpOnSibLE.
I joined this forum simply hoping to keep up with the latest info...
I've owned an NA2, ND1, and ND2, and while they all have excellent shifters, the shifter in the FK8 was just that little bit more fun/engaging to use. They're definitely close, but not quite as satisfying as the shifter provided in the Type R.
Good to know. My ignorant ass had pretty much written off Haldex systems, but it makes sense they'd have improved in the ~10 years since I last drove one.
Just FYI, I've felt more torque steer from Haldex AWD systems than from my FK8 when I had it, and they have allegedly improved the geometry ever-so-slightly with the FL5\ITS.
Turns out my case was just a simple miscommunication since I jumped in before they had any official process in place. They took $1000 deposits for the previous Type S models, so that's what my salesperson went with. I spoke with their finance manager, and they have my order confirmed at MSRP...
Looks like McDavid's playing some games. They told me they required $1,000 deposit, but they're at least consistent quoting no ADM.
Did they indicate whether your deposit is refundable?
Haha I feel ya. If they don't do a bait and switch at sale-time and try to slap on an ADM, that'd certainly help sway their reputation for me, but we'll see. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself to have to just walk away if they pull any shenanigans.
I have a feeling we're working with the same dealer...
I actually worked there for two weeks as a sales associate a few years ago after being laid off from a tech company, and the sleaziness was so bad, I just up and left. Couldn't stomach being instructed to blatantly lie to, and trick...
Austin area. The dealer that mentioned ADM was in northern San Antonio. I contacted two dealers in Dallas and one in Houston, but they weren't taking deposits at the time and hadn't confirmed allocations. Granted, that could change tomorrow at the rate things are going.
