  1. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

Slight tangent...So, I got my car back about a week ago, just in time to put it away for the winter. While I was connecting the battery tender I noticed that the underside of the hood doesn't have any seam sealant along the rolled edges. I don't remember if it had sealant from the factory. Can...
  2. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

I haven't driven the new Z, I don't think I've seen one in person TBH. I had one of the first 350Zs. Traded in my 2000 Civic Si for it. The Z was a lot faster but, the SI was/is a cooler car. Not only did it sounds great when revved to 8k, but it was playful. It would rotate a bit on exit ramps...
  3. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

I could get away with a two seater, but prefer a car with fours seats and doors :). I looked at the Cayman on Porsche's website, but it was not within my budget. My oldest will be off to college in two years, so I gotta resist the urge to spend more...I'm not a fan of the Supra's looks, although...
  4. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

Ouch. I did look at the M2 briefly, but Tulley BMW did not have any that were not spoken for and they wanted a lot more than sticker...cool car though. Any reason you didn't replace it with another M2?
  5. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

Sunnyside, that's where I purchased my current car (from Mike Keane). I noticed they have a white/red ITS in stock now. Hoping I can get mine back before they sell it. Notice you have a R.I.P reference for an M2 Competition in your signature. What happened to it?
  6. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

Thanks for all the replies.... Estimate for repairs was $12k, turned out to be $17k (not including the rework they've had to do due to their mistakes), so there was no way State Farm was going to total it. I spent two weeks looking for a shop that came recommended by someone I trust. I...
  7. Deer Strike in May - repairs still not complete (mild rant)

It's been a frustrating first year of ownership for me. I consider myself to be a patient, relatively laid-back person, but I'm genuinely vexed at this point. I took delivery last November and got to drive my shiny new car, the first one in 10 years, for about a month before I put it away for...
  8. Grinding/Abrasive Noise while foot off Gas pedal

I'll call the dealer and ask. I checked the paperwork and it makes no mention of the part in question. They did pilfer it from a brand new Type-S that was damaged in transit because there are none of these parts around. They had to overnight the wheel bearing from California when they replaced it.
  9. Grinding/Abrasive Noise while foot off Gas pedal

I had a problem similar to what you describe, although I would not describe the noise my car made as abrasive. The gas pedal vibrated a lot, particularly in Sport+ mode between 3k and 4k rpm when I lifted off the throttle but kept my foot on the pedal. It was so bad my foot felt numb. So, I went...
  10. Power steering question

Thanks for the replies. I did not know that the steering rates (power versus manual) were different in the 944. I will say that they were great cars. Suffered from low horsepower, but the feel of that car was fantastic, even with the large sidewall tires of the day. The weight of modern cars...
  11. Power steering question

So, this might be a stupid question. Are the different steering modes in the ITS (and other modern cars) achieved by varying the level of EPS assist? I assume so, but don't know. Here's why I ask, my father had a 1983 944 with manual steering, no power assist at all. Just a plain old rack and...
  12. Splash Guards

Thanks for the responses. I went to my dealer today to pick up a set. I didn't realize they cost $180. I need to recuperate from the holidays before I spend more on the car, so I passed for now. I will pick up a set before I put her back on the road after winter. You need to get one of these...
  13. Splash Guards

Anyone purchase and install the OEM splash guards without using the self tapping screws? I want to prevent debris from hitting the wheel wells (already have a small chip in the passenger front well) and rockers, but I don't want to drill any holes. 3M makes some pretty sticky double sided tape...
  14. Track Mode Illegal in CA?

I found the original Reddit posts by the owner. I guess this is old news as the last update was December of 22' and Hyundai bought the car back from him. Reddit Post by Elantra N owner
  15. Track Mode Illegal in CA?

Seems a bit harsh to say the Elantra owner deserved to have his car's registration withdrawn, which means he can't drive it legally, simply because he said yes when the cop asked him if it was in track mode. It's doubtful his response mattered one way or the other, as that cop had a bad attitude...
  16. Track Mode Illegal in CA?

I saw a clip on YouTube in which a driver received a ticket and what seemed like egregious penalties from a police officer for using "track" mode on the street. Then I found a related article. Has me wondering if anyone in CA has received a ticket while driving their ITS, and if so, what the...
  17. Would you buy it again?

I've had my car for exactly two weeks and I know its the right car for me. Not sure what other people cross shopped, but I looked at the CTR, the baby Blackwing, and a couple of muscle cars (Mustang GT & Camaro SS). I wanted a fast, fun car with manual transmission. The Honda dealer wanted $60k...
  18. ITS owners -- what is your biggest surprise with the car so far?

Not necessarily surprises but.... The ELS stereo is good but not as good as I expected given the reviews. I like the Fender tuned stereo in my 2014 Jetta GLI Autobahn a little better. It sounds "cleaner". The last vehicle I purchased was my wife's 2019 Sienna minivan. It has a CD player. Not...
  19. Official Integra Type S waiting room

I contacted my local dealer in April after test driving a CTR in March and put my name on their wait list. I called them a couple of times throughout the summer to let them know I was still interested, didn't have a color preference (figured I'd be lucky to get one), and could wait until next...
