Heads up for anyone who goes with the Apex EC-7 and McGard lugnuts. Most of the non-marring sockets are too thick to fit. You’ll need to use a thin wall non-impact and a breaker bar to loosen… should already be using a torque wrench to tighten anyway.
I should have searched this before I ordered them.
Agree that the sensors are a solid design, but definitely annoyed they won’t match the wheels. Though looking at the on the stock wheels I guess it doesn’t stick out as bad as I think it will.
If you can find out what they did so I can have mine replicate that would be fantastic. I’d even take better at this point if we can’t get “solved.”
Seems for now that I have to tap out on this issue. It’s definitely that the window is moving too much from road imperfections, which causes it to keep pressing on the run channel and making noise. I can’t seem to find anything myself indicating why the window moves more than it likely should...
Thankfully it isn’t every second I drive it or I might feel a little different about long term. Some days are worse than others depending on road conditions.
This will be my first winter with it though…so we will see what new noises the cold brings. Haha
I have done felt tape, put shin etsu in the channel, foam tape inside or behind… nothing has stopped the window from moving and thus making the rubber of the channel make noise.
I can manipulate the outside and inside parts of the run channel to repeat the noise and it just won’t stop no...
I had put a significant amount of Shin Etsu around the parts of the run channel that touch the paint but I still have the noise. The main issue seems to be that the window has just enough play that it’s moving in the channel and causing the noise.
As my run channels were already replaced, I...
Driving the car is too much damn fun to get rid of it. Chasing the noises is a pain, but I’ve got friends who own from many brands and even higher price points with rattles/buzzing.
For this window noise, I’ve found I can recreate it constantly pushing up on the bottom of the run channel gasket...
Got it. I think I had only put some felt tape near that top corner of the frame/channel… maybe you’re right in that it needs ceramic on the paint underneath or a good layer of foam tape all the way down the door.
Guess I have something else to mess with today now!
Hmm. Where exactly are you looking to ceramic coat? I have pulled the run channel so many times at this point, but maybe I was just looking in the wrong area of it.
I honestly haven’t had a ton of time to mess with it on my own. Plus I hear it most from the drivers seat so I need to have someone drive while I sit I back and can try to manipulate the window.
I’m installing logo projectors soon and going to mess with the window tensioner while I have...
The most frustrating part of all this is how impossible it is to get to someone who can actually help. I shouldn’t have to try foam in run channels to get rid of the noise from a window that clearly moves when it shouldn’t.
Car was back at the dealership yesterday. Tech line won’t help because I have a dash camera installed. Both front windows make noise over bumps.
We tried some strips of foam tape in a few spots in the run channel but it did nothing for the noise. At this point they want to chalk it up to...
No plans of trying to trade it in. Not the first new car I’ve had with rattles and won’t be the last.
However, I’m going to fight with Acura as hard as I can until this window issue is fixed. Unacceptable on a new car and to just claim it’s normal.
Hate to hear that. Could understand the window needing room, if problems like this existed on every other car. Yet my 24 year old S2000 has windows that don’t make a damn sound.
Love everything else about the car so I’m just going to keep trying my own fixes along with being a pain in the ass...
Maybe I missed it while trying to search, but I couldn’t find another thread about this.
Anyone else had an issue where over bumps/imperfections you get noise from the drivers side window? It’s not the seatbelt holder because the noise goes away when the window is down even a half inch.
Dealer...
