    Good take. Iā€™m now considering the same thing. Iā€™m adding spacers this weekend and Iā€™m sure thatā€™ll push me to go with an 18x9.5 once I see the wheel gap.

    Canā€™t argue with your take, of course a stretched tire is not something companies will ever recommend. Iā€™d say 245 would be the standard for a 9.5 (245mm = 9.6ā€ wide). For reference, hereā€™s some 225/40 on 9.5ā€. The stretch is definitely seen, and I get itā€™s not everyoneā€™s cup of tea.

    Forgot to mention, I'm planning to run a bit of stretch. 225/40 on a 9.5 is considered a stage 1 stretch and is pretty common actually. My main concern is going up 18" diam to 19".
