$10k in repairs for a "people's car" is insane. Especially at 100k miles.Another MK7 GTI owner. Loved the car until 100k miles. At that point the oil and radiator started leaking. Clutch was also starting to go, which is earlier than my previous cars (I may be expecting too much from a sportier car). Dealer quoted about $10k in repairs but an independent shop could have done much better.
Which really isn't "too early" for clutch replacement... in Porsches for example typically you can expect to consider replacing a clutch after 60k miles, but a lot of that depends on usage. But if you get 100k out of a clutch, I don't think anyone could really complain about that...
However, asking $10k to replace it, that's a different story. $5-6k would be a ripoff, and to put it in perspective, that's about what it (used to) cost for a Porsche dealer to replace a clutch... even with replacing a radiator $10k is just a ludicrous repair bill for any car that didn't have at least a six-figure retail price when new...
