Indeed, especially at the price of MSRP.
IMO it’s a 40k car at best. Anyone willingly paying an ADM for one of these is completely out of their mind.
Yeah buts its their money and their choice...So

It has begun...

ZDX debut info here.

Hideous. Like what we really need are more identical looking crossovers that take hours to refill with fuel. Take the badge off that car and it could just as easily be a Mazda (look at the CX-5 in the background of my avatar), a Chevy, or a Toyota. Boring, boring, boring. At least it's red and not black or white (or gray like my ITS, haha).

I believe Acura will keep the Integra for awhile...whether that be in ICE form or transitioning to a Hybrid powertrain down the line, they will keep it in the lineup.

Why bring the car back from a 22 year hiatus just to have a 4-6 year model run? As mentioned above, the 11th gen Civic has been a great seller for Honda and the two cars share a ton between them. If the Civic is selling, the Integra is selling. 19k units just this year, as Dan said....

Acura wouldn't reintroduce the Integra name (albeit a simple ILX replacement) just to kill it off a short time later. Again - it will be mid-model refreshed, updated, and eventually be powered by other means but Acura knows better than to give it the axe after having all of us enthusiasts (their target audience) who, for the last 2 decades were begging for a high revving sporty coupe, who were completely disappointed by the initial reveal/design concept and who are now slowly coming back around with the release of the Type-S as being interesting again :

"This is how the Integra should've come from the start"

This is also their entry level Acura so they need consumers to get their feet in the door for the brand. Hopefully they keep the mindset that their consumers prefer using both feet to drive and keep the 6MT, but that's another story...

agree with this. No full electric for the Integra. Just not viable long term with gigantic batteries that degrade and expensive to replace.

Internal combustion in combination with electric motor or similar to what Toyota has going on in their development is what I can see being feasible. Solid state batteries will need to be fully developed and mass produced. It’d have to be beyond 2030; enjoy the current integras for now

Oh Christ, don't even say that!

I recommend you check out Redline's review of the ZDX press car--he's pretty pro Honda/Acura overall, but he wasn't particularly kind about the GM/Acura teamwork on the ZDX and called out more thinks he disliked than anything I can recall him reviewing recently. Especially at a press event.

There was an Edmunds review of the Type-S where the reviewer (not someone who would necessarily have any insider info) posited that there'd be a 1-year offering of an Integra Type-R with 400+ hp and SH-AWD. It was purely speculation, but it's been floated.

It doesn't seem like an impossibility, especially considering the incredibly limited run of the NSX Type-S Acura previously made. SavageGeese in their review of the Type-S highlighted there's only been one Type-R in the US at any given time (maybe while they were still 1:1 with Jonathan Rivers), so when the FL5 is eventually retired... who knows? Jonathan Rivers in his AMA was pretty clear in saying there'd be no SH-AWD Integra, but (personally) I think it'd need it if it were to exceed 400hp.

In any case, I suspect a new Integra Type-R might carry a bit of a markup by dealerships.

I indeed watched Sofian's video about the ZDX and recall him mentioning a ton of dislikes...I watch all his vids, he's from my neck of the woods here in NoVA...

His opinion isn't about the Integra here, he actually really likes the new DE4 and DE5. I'm not sure what comparison you're trying to make....care to explain?

Ah, I guess your "don't even say that" was in relation to the Integra being a rebadged GM vs an electric Acura being a rebadged GM--my read on Sofyan's review of the ZDX was that it was more GM than Acura.

Gotcha, yeah I think you know what I mean about that comment on the Integra...I dread Acura having any styling relation to GM...I get the mechanical architecture for the powertrain platform but jesus, if any Acuras physically look like a GM vehicle I'll throw up...the interior of the ZDX makes me queasy....

The ZDX definitely seems VERY GM and not so much Acura, sucks to hear but with them having this first joint venture to produce a vehicle, I guess thems the brakes....

I think Honda of America cuts models faster than we'd like to think. For instance if we look at the 10th Generation Accords. Initially launched with both 1.5T and 2.0T models, and a brand new 10 speed automatic for the 2.0T cars. There were 6 speed manual trims available with both engines too!

Mid 2020 before the Accord model refresh was even completed, Honda silently stopped making the 2.0T/6spd combo. For the 2021/2022 refresh cars, Honda dropped the 2.0T/6MT option completely.

For the 2023 and newer 11th gen Accords, Honda completely abandoned the 2.0T after just a single model run in the 10th gen cars. That was a lot of engineering work just to shrug it all off and throw another new powertrain (a hybrid 2.0L) at the Accord.

The Integra does much lower sales volume than any Accord ever sold. As much as I'd love to see Honda continue to put these cars out there, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them pull the plug on the Integra, at least the Integra as we know it. They may keep the nameplate but the likelihood that it stays like the current cars in terms of powertrain seems vanishingly small to me.

If Honda's current Accord and CR-V models are anything to go by, they will reduce engine size for the gas-only models and offer an "upgrade" trim series that is a hybrid. That means no fun 2.0T and definitely no fun transmission options.

Not to sound all doom and gloom but, if you like/want anything in the current Acura lineup I'd get it now.

I think you may be spot on, I heard from the dealer that got info from the regional acura rep the Type S integra may only get another 1-2 run, same with the TLX and MDX. Something about they need to revise their emissions and mpg numbers across the model lineup.

A Type R integra will not happen, To much re tooling to add AWD and 400+HP won't happen in the current 2.0L\trans (especially at a manufacturing level for reliability\warranty concerns)
