Honestly best thing for him to do is go back out and drive. Every accident I've had has been in rain/snow and other people hitting me. It's resulted in 2 totaled cars and makes me TERRIFIED to drive in heavy rains. And this is over 25 years of driving. The only way I'm KIND of getting over it is forcing myself to go out driving when it's raining out so that I force myself to get used to it. Accidents can cause PTSD but it's one you just must confront.

It almost sounds like he's sitting too close to the wheel potentially with no seatbelt if he hit his head, it doesn't look like it was a hard hit. I'd suggest you look up good driving positions and see how it shows vs how your son sits in the car. He may also want to follow other cars farther if he hit the car in front of him. As some INS companies will deem that HIS fault depending on the impact speed of the car that hit him.
100% agree, the best thing is to get back out there and try to put it behind you. When I was 12, my sister picked me up from school and we got hit when she made a left turn and didn't see a guy coming. Nearly 30 years later, I still get tingle in my spine when making left turns. Even though I've never even come close to being hit myself.

Yes we discussed he needs to sit further back. He def had his seat belt on. 100 percent of the time. My daughter verified. He doesn't follow cars close at all just bc he is a new driver and too nervous to tailgate someone but this is a little different bc they were stopped just waiting on a car 2 up to turn. My daughter showed me how far forward she went and her seat belt stopped her but it was pretty far. Her chest was hurting from it and it knocked the air out of her. The car they hit in front just dented the license plate. Police ticketed the kid with reckless driving and he will have to appear in court. It's 35 mph zone so that means 45 mph average speed. They think he was going approx 35 mph and didn't hit his brakes. The front of his rogue was completely crushed in. He was able to drive it to the school lot but that was it.

Glad everyone is ok!

My first car was a 95 civic with a manual and a very questionable history 😅. But all my friends had shitty cars and freedom. Good times.

When my teg got hit in the parking lot one body shop said a factory painted rocker panel was a 2 week special order from the dealer. Another bodyshop didn't even have appointments till end of November. 3 months sounds about right.

We are going to get an update tomorrow hopefully. The body shop was great and got us in the morning after the accident and then kept the car to start. I know all they can do is tear it apart to see what all it needs and then we wait but I will take it.
