@chenc544's breakdown and thought process is actually pretty good--how many Corvettes Chevy can pump out isn't relevant to the number of Type-S' Acura can/will produce. They're apples and oranges.

If Acura sells 2,500 Integras in a good month (they did this in February 2023), they're going to want to keep that going, then add to that number Type-S sales (ideal, business-wise) or convert a fraction of those 2,500/month to Type-S sales (probably more realistic). These cars share the same production line, but they're going to be pretty different price points and very different target customers. Might the Type-S make up just 10% of the total Integras built/sold? It seems possible. The Type-R was a very small fraction of the total Integras sold each year.

They have to make what they can sell.

maybe but selling 2-3k type S is unrealistic a year. Honda is a publicly traded company looking to make a profit. that wouldn't even cover the R&D and tooling.

I think the ITS allocation will be higher than the CTR. We have to remember the ITS is made exclusively for the US and Canada Market. CTR is only made in Japan for the worldwide market. No reason why they cannoy build more ITS than CTR. Now… what will be the market demand is another thing and we should expect low stock for sure for the first few months and Acura will move its production accordingly. It is not a car for the mass.. its not an RDx so its pretty hard to predict how popular it will really be.
Eh, this is going to be tricky--they certainly can make more ITS than CTR, but because the CTR exists they don't necessarily have to make more ITS. The two are going to cannibalize the sales of one another, that's already brewing. It'll be interesting to see how they balance this.

Depends on the number of buyers. The TLX Type S was 2-3k for the first 2 years.

They're barely building 4,000 CTR's/year for the global market, and it's pretty obvious that it required a lot more R&D and tooling than the ITS--the logic doesn't follow. It's all a tricky balance, just because they can produce a boatload of one car because it's cool, doesn't mean they should. Their goal is to build as many cars as they can sell.

The TLX Type-S is a small fraction of total TLX sales, the same will follow for the ITS.

If I had to guess Acura said we will build x amount of the ITS this year for dealer allocation plus whatever reservations we get.

Any rationale to back that up? Hunch? Wishful thinking?

Hunch mostly but knowing the ITS is expected to ease pressure on the CTR plant in Japan they are going to have to build enough to do that. I mean they could have said we are making 1200 for dealer allocation and we expect 12-1500 reservations. At the end of the day they have to build enough to justify building it and putting it through emissions certification. Can’t remember if they have to crash test again with the motor change.

Acura still hasn't said how many they plan to build for June or for the rest of the year, not even sure if that'll be put out there, these numbers are rumors from dealerships--I think Acura limits their number announcements to sales figures.

And sorry, not trying to be a jerk, it's just important to remember that this reservation system (if they do one) is a reservation system, not an ordering system. It doesn't help Acura ballpark future demand for the car, that's what they're basing production forecasts on, and I guarantee they already know how many total ITS' they're building for this year. Probably into next year even. The reservation system is just a tool to connect buyers (us) and sellers (dealerships), don't jump to Acura using it to inform what they'll do.

I break the news 10 days ago and people are posting the same old news now..

One thing we are currently monitoring is that customers are expecting dealers compete among themselves for a car that has not been released yet. Yes we have received some complaints from dealers that customers are demanding prices/upgrade or they won't reserve with that dealership. Remember no details have been released.. yet. This is causing delays as supply will be limited for the 1st release. Will post more details in a few days!

Well in Canada all the CTR are sold … for the 3 years annonced… no cannibalization here with an ITS… CTR would also be sold out in the USA without the stupid mark up you guys have to deal with. That’s why I think Acura will build as much ITs as they can sell…

I plan to put online reservations at the same dealers where I have deposits. If it helps them get my specific allocation so I can get the car in the exact combo I want, great. If it doesn't, it just comes off my purchase price at whichever dealership gets the car in first, and the other refunds the unused deposits.

A reservation through Acura doesn't help you get the car at MSRP. You still need to shop around, and you can call/email now to ask what they intend to add to the vehicle accessory-wise and/or add to the MSRP for the vehicles they get. If you aren't working this out in advance, you're guaranteeing you'll be surprised when it comes in.
Exactly! So you still have to work your deals out beforehand. I have mine in writing for MSRP at my dealer and the other local one to me is doing $2500 dealer add ons. So I’m just going to reserve one online at the same place I have my deal at. All these ppl who want to reserve online without deals in place are gonna be in a tough spot and at the mercy of the dealers it seems.

I don't think anything has been 100%. My preferred choice would be LMC then maybe the White

Last year it was White/Red in the reservation system—doesn’t seem like there are any definitive rumors on what will be available in June for the ITS.
