More semi-random DE5 ITS musings here. When I had the FK8 CTR, I remember the fuel pump being the limitation for 7800+ maximum rpm. Since the pump is mechanical driven by the camshaft, I believe it was “piston float” if I remember correctly vs a flow limitation. I like the idea of a 8000+ rpm...

I miss driving the ITS so took it out for a fun drive. It was raining and in the 40s. With the DWS 06+, the ITS is very capable and lots of fun even in the somewhat cold and wet!

On one of my other cars, I thought it was rod knock. While the bearing was wiped, the noise was more likely from the broken rocker arm. I am happy that crankshaft and rods being reusable. This engine made about 2.5x the power of a stock K20C8. Not messing with it too much so it will go back...

Those are great choices too and likely more consistent throughout the sessions. Outright pace early on might not be as quick as the A052 and RE-71RS that are likely more optimized for time attacks.

285/30/20 is a 5.8% taller tire compared to stock. Higher center of gravity, taller overall gearing, and likely higher rotational inertia could be considered downsides.

@optronix and @StingertimeNC I have watched and enjoy many of @Zygrene videos as well. I imagine I would enjoy meeting Zygrene one of these days and I appreciate the videos he produces. I am interested in an Ohlins setup as well. My ideal would be keeping stock ride height and stock spring...

20s might not look too good if diameter is kept stock. Look at the FK8 CTR, the sidewall gets so think it looks kinda wrong IMO.

Car looks great, @StingertimeNC! Which 200 TW tires are you considering? The RE-71RS are pretty awesome too (I had these on a different car). The A052 is kinda the standard. The new Potenza Race looks interesting too (lighter than RE-71RS according to TireRack specs). Looks wise, I agree that...

On my FK8 CTR, I had 18x9.5 +45 wheels with A052. That was an amazing setup. For 200 TW, A052 is one of the best ones. For the most part, the different than stock offset is fine. Depending on what trade offs is acceptable to an individual though. One cannot really cheat physics (technology can...

APEX and Titan7 are solid choices for sure. Which one and what size & offset are you considering?
  11. ForeverCar’s ITS Journal

Stock is +60mm offset though, right?

@optronix Have you decided on wheels? I would love to hear which Rays is your favorite (while offset likely deviates more from stock than you would like). In the ideal scenario, are you looking for stock size and offset but much lighter than stock? I understand not wanting to mess with the...

I have been away from my ITS and certainly miss driving it! Since getting the car, I naturally are more aware of ITS on the road. However, I don’t think I have seen one driving around yet. I got to enjoy the 720S at a 2-day 1/2-mile event. I mainly attend to hangout with my friends and support...

I wish! I missed the boat on that one. “Forever” car is a humorous ways for me to not take things too seriously. For most cars, I tend to sell them relatively soon after I have experienced them and come up with my thoughts on how they fit in to my overall “plan”. Modern McLaren cars are...

Paging @fatherpain as I figured he might be on here. I could not stay away and am back in a DE5. I have not kept up with your build progress and hope all is well.

Thanks to this forum, I realized 80 ft-lbs is not the correct lug nut torque value to use and I re-torque them to 94 ft-lbs. I did think 80 ft-lbs seems low but that was the number I saw in the owner’s manual. I need to get a service manual for the car to prevent future mistakes!
  17. Type S Winter Wheels / Fitment Specs

Owners manual has 80 ft-lbs, no? Maybe I read it wrong.

Looks great. What size and offset on the wheels? Curious to hear your thoughts behind 265/40/18 vs 265/35/18 on tire size.

@optronix I enjoy reading your perspectives and I see disagreement as a good thing. Of course, I appreciate the respectful disagreements particularly. I have not had experienced the M2CS yet and am expecting that I would love it. It is interesting to hear that you do not even though you wanted...

Shaing a bit more on my recent visit to the tail of the dragon area. I got super lucky as I believe many aspects were close to optimally and it was likely a peak experience of a lifetime. I happen to have one of the most epic cars there for it, the weather was perfect, and we basically had all...
