I'm working on a very comprehensive post comparing the two cars but I traded my Integra A-Spec MT for the Mazda3 AWD Turbo HB 2 weeks ago. Strictly speaking about ride quality and NVH, the Mazda3 is much better. As someone who's had Hondas for the last decade, it really hurts to say that. I went...
The supply chain argument doesn’t make sense to me. The ITS is a relatively low volume trim compared to A-Spec Tech. Surely they could spare a few parts?
I think it's a strange collection of names on the sleeves. If you're going to have a mix of past and present Type S's on there, why not the TL, CL, or even MDX? This makes those seem like they're a different "type" of Type S.
What really gets me in these videos is that they imply Acura came up with all these things that are also in the CTR, and I think they're kind of stuck where it looks bad if they reference the CTR and it also looks bad if they don't.
ITS owner’s manual asks for 93 octane vs 91 for CTR so that likely contributes to the HP difference. Louder exhaust doesn’t always mean higher flowing.
I haven’t seen any factory claimed 0-60 times for either car. Source?
I would think CTR has the stiffer chassis with it being the more track...
After sitting on this news for the whole day, I think I'm out too. Such a bad performance value proposition. Honda/Acura knows this (and the CTR) is the only serious FWD hot hatch and decided to price according to the supply/demand curve. I've been a Honda fan for the last decade, but this...
I heard the same color combos will be available at launch from my WA dealer too. I was hoping for white/red but I’ll have to let this and the MSRP news sit and see what I want to do. From the list, LCM/red is the only one I’d consider.
On a related note, check out the pricing press releases-...
Just based on stock pictures/video, I don't think they're the same part. The ITS's knob looks shinier and maybe more rounded at the top like the FK8's knob, the S2K's more matte and flat at the top. I do prefer the red lettering and the matte look on the DC5-R's knob and I actually have it on my...
No tears can express how sad I am we’re not getting this. Not a fan of the color but if it was white…
I also wonder what could have been had Acura used the 10th gen Civic coupe for an Integra instead of sticking with the 9th gen Civic based ILX
I've also been compiling a total list of confirmed changes so far of Type S changes over A-Spec Tech (deletions/downgrades in bold):
Type R powertrain (+5 rated hp with recommended 93 octane), Type S engine bay covers
Type R dual axis front suspension, Type S suspension tuning (assuming...
From Raiti's video, you can see a button under the frameless rearview mirror so I think auto-dimming rearview mirror is still there. A-Spec Tech doesn't have auto-dimming side mirrors so I doubt ITS would have it too.
I’ve now skimmed thru the manual and here’s some more Type S specific notes that’s not in the press release
p. 116: A stopwatch is available on the left side of the instrument cluster instead of the audio and time
p. 118: Turbo Gauge, G-Meter, Accelerator Position/Braking Pressure Meter...
Haven’t went through the whole thing yet but it says 93 octane is recommended for Type S (page 619)! Maybe that’s where the extra 5 horses are from?
