You could be right. The fact that the RDX / Accord use the same block with a lower output does open that up as a possibility. I just hope they give it the extra ~30hp it deserves for their halo car's top performance trim.
I currently have an S2000 and have been waiting nearly 2 decades for a new version from Honda. Since they never released something between an S660 and NSX, this or the CTR are kind of my next closest thing in terms of offering a manual, performance, and price, albeit bigger FWD cars.
The S2000...
I agree, but threw the Stinger into the mix since it seems to get brought up a lot in discussions regarding the Integra which means people might actually be cross shopping it. It is in a very similar price range and is TECHNICALLY a performance hatch. I'm no marketing expert, but they both seem...
If we're talking market value for these cars then the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwings are listed in the 70k range. I'm just talking MSRP to keep this apples to apples.
Anyways, I agree with you that 250hp for the ITS would be disappointing. I don't think ~300hp is too much to ask for considering the...
Though I agree the Integra Type S should offer more power than some are suggesting here, some of your example vehicles don't feel relevant here. I realize they are entry level, but they're still on a different performance level from the Integra here. The Infiniti and Cadillac are still more...
Not saying it will be the downfall of the company by any means. They've obviously done their market research.
But like you said, I would simply take my business elsewhere. Just waiting for the used car market to calm down a bit.
I have faith in Acura's team wanting to target more of the...
Yup! Was about to reply the same thing. It wasn't long ago that the RSX offered the same output as the Civic SI and then nearly a 25% increase in the RSX Type S.
Of course this was before the CTR was available in the states and the Civic SI that followed received the same power bump by the time...
To me, it'll be a bust if the Type S doesn't at a minimum have the engine specs of the outgoing CTR. 306HP is not too much to ask for IMO. If the new CTR squeezes out even more horsepower, I'd hope that the ITS will match it. If not, it won't be a deal breaker for me.
Some might think I'm being...
I agree that the CTR will be shown in it's entirety with specs first.
I think it's still possible for Acura to announce and tease the Type S with limited details before that.
What worries me about that is that we get the Type S as a MY2024. Hopefully that's not the case and they still manage to promote it and release in the fall of this year as a 2023.
That's what I was thinking for the "I got next" challenger that shows up at the end, but it was clearly the prototype with the yellow exhaust tips.
I do agree with your point, but didn't they announce the TLX Type S earlier on which could have canibalized their sales of the lower trims too? MDX...
We know Acura is the main sponsor for the Long Beach GP and they probably want to keep the momentum for the Integra reveal going.
The promotional Anime they released obviously takes place there.
I'm sure the most we'll get (if anything) is a teaser as they don't want to jump the gun before...
Congrats! Curious which state you're in for that. Southern California might be harder. Also make sure there aren't other dealership specific required fees that aren't accounted for there like 3M paint packages and stuff.
Just to close the loop on this, but it looks like the answer is clearly not to reserve for this round like some of you already predicted. I'm glad Acura at least helped to narrow it down by available trims to avoid confusion with lack of info.
Hoping for a Long Beach GP announcement ?
Yup, you alI have a point and it's out of principle. I had this same conversation about another product the other day.
On the other hand, If I were interested in the base model, I think I have enough understanding of the product to make my decision at this point.
However, I'm strictly...
