I have a Battery Tender brand for over 15 years and use it every winter for my Miata battery. Still working. Not sure which model, probably been replaced by another model after all these years.
3 burns my butt and is unusable for me, 2 is good to warm up the seat, but even that gets too warm after 5 minutes, I then turn it down to 1. Of course we’re all different, but if the 3 setting doesn’t feel warm enough I’m going with the heater is defective. Does the passenger seat work the same?
I have the Blizzak WS-90s on my car. I ski, so I tend to drive in a lot of crappy conditions and they do good on unplowed roads as long as the snow doesn’t get too deep.
It’s not really to the outside edge. If it were a 6 bolt pattern the measurement would be to the center of the stud directly across which would be on the line drawn from the 2 outside edges of the 5 bolt pattern. In other words the bolt pattern dimension is just the diameter of the circle that...
I”ve had a few of the nannies complain in heavy snow. Some sonar warning, the parking sensors go ballistic, and the adaptive cruise stops working. We’ve had nonstop snow and cold in upstate NY (I’m not complaining, the skiing has been good) so I haven’t washed the car in over a month. I get...
After driving in the snow and over (extremely) salt covered roads I’ll answer my own post. No, a rear wiper isn’t needed. I’m pleasantly surprised that the rear window stays clean even though the rest of the car is encrusted in salt and dirt. I guess the airflow stays attached to the car...
Good move. I have PS4s on my Miata, even when temps are in the low 50s I’ll spin the tires when cold even starting as gently as I can (no traction control nannies). These tires need heat in them to operate as intended. I imagine at colder temps it would be akin to driving a bumper car.
I don’t notice any rev hang on my Miata, but people who auto cross or track their cars do complain about it. I did have a Honda Fit that the rev hang was noticeable when driven with some urgency.
Well, rev hang used to be done to reduce emissions on cars with carbs and throttle bodies.

Shouldn’t be needed as much for direct injection engines, so a tune...
Not Honda’s choice, this is done to meet emissions regulations. Every car that still has a manual does this. I’m sure there are tunes that remove or reduce this. Even my 1976 BMW 2002 had this, fortunately back then it was controlled by a mechanical dashpot on the carburetor that could easily...
I found this part on the charging pad shortly after I got my car. Took me a while to figure out where it goes, but yeah, there’s a hole in front of the shifter that it fits into. It hasn’t come loose in months, so hopefully it stays put.
They told me they weren’t prepared for the recall yet and to call back when I get the paperwork. I’m guessing they hate all their customers, it seems like a poorly run operation (Crest Acura, syracuse NY). I have no intention of bringing my car there, even for the free oil changes...
They gave me a sheet showing that they checked a bunch of stuff, the battery, the tires. the brakes, the fluids and so on. That included setting the tire pressure to the sticker value, but that was in a somewhat warm garage, once left out in the cold the pressures went down to several psi below...
Dropped off my car last evening and picked it back up after lunch today. Since I had no issues before it feels identical. My only complaint is that they took air out of my tires. The car was in their warm garage all night and when they finished the job at 8:30 this morning and they parked the...
