Yes it matches any gear change down .. within the engines rpm limitations.. no protection from money shifting once ya drop that clutch. But with rev match you will hear and see the rpms jump which could notify you..
There was a thread about this in one of the Facebook groups too - The Type S rev matches in first gear, but I guess the base and A-spec don't.

Not a fan, I learned the old fashioned way of balancing the car using the brakes, clutch, and throttle dance. I was teaching my oldest daughter to drive a manual. I got her a new beetle with a manual transmission. The clutch in the bug was as light as the Integra. We were practicing hill starts at the local high school and she kept stalling. I couldn’t figure out what she was doing wrong until I took over and realized it was the hill hold start. If you’ve never driven a car with it before it can be intrusive and can hold the brakes a beat too long when you want to accelerate quickly. Like on a hill at a light.
