Does anyone happen to know the static roof bar/ roof limit? According to literature and the internet, which we know never lies; the weight capacity of the roof bars is 132lbs. I read somewhere else that the roof itself has a supposed limit of 154lbs, but can't find anything to back that up.
Is that 132lb limit just the dynamic weight limit (the load that can be carried under normal driving conditions, 19" wheel limitations notwithstanding) or is that the no-shit, do not exceed limit? I'm trying to find what the static weight limit of the roof bar system is but I'm coming up empty. .
Apparently, general rule of thumb for static weight limit is 3-5 times the stated dynamic capacity, but I think that only applies to the roof and not a roof bar system.
My goal is to install a roof mounted tent and do some adventuring with my Integra. I figure with myself and my partner in the tent, supported weight would be in the area of 370-380lbs.
Has anyone done anything like this, and if so what has your experience been?
