My daughter just curbed the 18" rear wheel on our 2023 Aspec 6MT.
Has anyone tried taller tires to both protect the rim and improve fender wheel gap appearance?
Stock is 235 40 18
Anyone try 235 45 18 or 245 45 18?
Any rubbing?

This guy did with a set of 19s in 235 40 19

I am for sure interested in this as once these stock tires are toast, I want meatier tires both for road noise, comfort and to both close the wheel well gap and hug the lips of the wheel better like you were saying. I’d love to see someone with the stock ASpec wheels wrapped in bigger (meatier) tires.

Here's a 245/45/18 setup: https://www.integraforums.com/forum/threads/avid1-av20-18x8-5-33mm-with-245-45-18-toyos.51302/

Curious to know what @enjay4553 thinks after a few weeks on them. Care to share your thoughts?

I'm down a 245/45/18 rabbit hole now in my hunt for winter wheels/tires--having a heck of a time figuring out whether or not wheels will rub, but these pics give me hope it's doable.

I ended up going with
255/40/18 on 18x8.5 et 30 and
265/40/18 on 18x9.5 et 40.
About 0.3-0.5in taller sidewall than stock
Stock alignment.
Working well so far.

They are excellent riding with the larger sidewall. I do rub a bit at speed over quick bumps but no rubbing lock to lock under street conditions. I am on lowering springs, so if you're daughter's vehicle is stock than you will have no issues.

The Toyo's I installed are directional (read the descriptions kids). They rode like shit until I realized my dumb ass installed them on completely the opposite sides.

I ended up trying taller tires for fun and to reduce curbing by my kid.
Running 20x8.5 wheels with very tall 255/35/20 tires.
Stock ride height would be 235/30/20 fyi.
It mostly fits but in reverse downhill, large bumps, full steering lock there is intermittent rubbing on the fender. Doesnt bother me. I like the looks and no curb rash yet

See my build thread for pics
