Helmet mount can be good. The nice thing about the helmet mount is that it should follow the eyes, so if you're not "looking through the corner", the camera won't be either. It's a good view point, but I personally forget it's there and then smack it on the car getting out. That's a "me problem"...
  2. Armrest holding me back from pulling the trigger

It's better than the G80 m3 I drove. Literally every shift had me smacking a 22oz yeti cup I have with my knuckles. In this car I keep a low cup at all times, and I just don't do fast food anyway so anything with a straw won't exist in my car. I'm 6'0“ but I'm all limbs. I've had no issues...

Home depot will have someone cut a 24" section for you if you ask. You could also use velcro cable ties to make it reusable and leave the camera mount mounted. It's honestly quite easy. Bonus points if you put a small screw into the velcro ties to keep the pvc and them from spinning.

First video of the Type S out. The data overlay was giving me all sorts of trouble. The gopro's onboard data collection has been broken for a while. I'll have to figure out a new data capture solution, but i really like the quality of the video it can put out.

Yeah, the car on track was very good. Balance was pretty solid and I liked the tendency to oversteer. The oversteer has a lot to do with alignment and it could probably take up to 1/32nd toe out in rear for even more rotation. Most people will just lower a car for street use and typically won't...

If you put in an rb600 type like I did, you'll get two years max before the fluid itself is shot. Whether that affects you as much as it would on the brake system is kind of hard to tell on a street or dual duty car. Sensitive fluids are just sensitive fluids though, so not isolating the brake...
  7. Back on Track

I did quite a few laps in the car today with both the traction partially off and full off. I didn't feel it intervening a ton at partial off, but it definitely didn't let me snap the rear out whenever I wanted. It seemed to be using the rear brakes to slow the inside wheel in slip circumstances...

Camber adding ball joint will increase "static" camber, but the roll center (not to be confused with "center of gravity") will not be affected. Typically if you lower a car, your center of gravity goes lower, but your roll center stays the same, which means it moves up in relation to the car...

As far as sharing a res, I think it's a personal view point if it's truly problematic or not. It kind of depends on your use case and frequency, but I can see it having benefits for the dealer and driver at service time. It pretty much guarantees the fluid will be changed, since people often...

I got the carbotech pads on tonight. Several people want me to drive their cars and ride with them at the track, so not much time to swap pads there, especially for the first time on this car/caliper. I had a few lessons learned, including the pin can't be easily pulled with needle nose like...
  11. Winter tires: 235/40-18 vs 245/40-18 vs 255/40-18

Yes, they are a bit taller. Handling "characteristics" don't necessarily change with the wheel size difference. The suspension still compresses and behaves as it does. Your roll center will go up by half the height difference. The car will produce a bit less torque at the wheel, but that won't...
  12. Winter tires: 235/40-18 vs 245/40-18 vs 255/40-18

Yes, that's correct. That's the alpin 5. It doesn't come in a reasonable size for this car and a 9.5 wheel. And again, that was a winter only comparison that didn't deal with any dry winter or handling analysis. Comfort and dry grip are usually what performance winters give up to get more snow...
  13. Winter tires: 235/40-18 vs 245/40-18 vs 255/40-18

You might have to post a screenshot because I don't see any way to get a direct same day comparison between the two tires. There are different test reports, yes, and you can read into that data all you want, but comparing that data from two different test events means virtually nothing. They...
  14. Winter tires: 235/40-18 vs 245/40-18 vs 255/40-18

The compare function only provides spec comparison from tire rack. The bar chart type rating is based off user reviews only. These are not professional reviews, but average joe's reporting in via review what they personally experienced. Nothing wrong with collective knowledge, but tirerack has...
  15. Winter tires: 235/40-18 vs 245/40-18 vs 255/40-18

You also have the vredstein wintrac pro in 255/40r18 for some more sidewall. Imo, it's a better tire than the alpin pa4. Better handling, comfier (especially with more sidewall), better ice stopping power, and more responsive to steering input. Not sure how it compares to the alpin 5 since I...
  16. Winter tires: 235/40-18 vs 245/40-18 vs 255/40-18

Holy stretch batman. Good thing that tire has very generous lip protection. I still wouldn't breath near potholes 😅. How do you like the alpin 5?
  17. Back on Track

It is definitely an annoying step.
  18. Back on Track

It depends on how much shifting and wot you're doing. The clutch slipping causes heat in the fluid, but the clutch gets hot from constant wot abuse as well. Clutch fluid doesn't boil as fast as brake usually but it certainly can depending on how much you're using it. These cars do make decent...
  19. Back on Track

There's not much fluid in it, no. If you're just driving around town it's not a big deal. If you take the car on track with stock fluid, it will boil. Mixing fluids is just no good though. It's not like they stabilize between the two, they just contaminate each other.
  20. Back on Track

Yeah, it's part of the same fluid system, but north of the abs pump. Clutch fluid won't move as much as brake fluid, but if it boils the bubble will go up and they often carry contaminants from the superheated fluid with them. They will travel up through the system and can get to the reservoir...
