It's a toss between being sleeper to that subtle wink wink dare u type look lol but this stealth look in feeling I don't know which route I'll go yet I have the LSM color
Regardless how you go, make up your mind quickly since you don’t want to take the bumper off twice. It is a pain in the you know what…lol

So I was doing the pre-order of the HVI yesterday and wanted to get the intercooler in the same order. I was debating black on black too and did some very quick research.

Sounds like if it's just painted black, most likely it would be at least very slightly detrimental to cooling or very bad depending on paint and how it's applied. People suggested to spray at an angle so you can see the paint but there's less coverage.

There was mention of special paint that conducts heat very well and goes on with a rough texture such that it increases the surface area. That sounds plausible to me but I don't expect that to be the case at $50usd difference.

My other concern and probably main concern is how black it would actually look after driving. A beat up aluminum intercooler just looks dirtying up close. A beat up black one might look like chipped paint all over after a while.

I went with bare aluminum in the end. It's cheaper anyway and I think I want the car to have a bit of a built look.

I should probably think about a mesh to at least block larger rocks or something. Has anyone done that with theirs yet? I feel like the looks is questionable. I'd want a black mesh but metal painted ones will look terrible quickly when hit with rocks.
