In Canada we thankfully don't have straight up Dealer markups like the US, but forced accessories is the game they play here.I am about 3 months away from returning to Canada and hopefully picking up my ITS. Have been on the waiting list a long time, and it looks like there is a good chance one of the colours I want will be available. I just got the pricing sheet from the dealership, and they added over $2500 in extras...including ceramic coating, "care" package which I think covers interior/exterior blemishes, etc...none of it is value added to me. Is this what I should expect or am I correct in assuming MSRP + whatever mandatory dealer fees are all I am willing to pay is fair? TIA.
You have to decide how likely it is there's a buyer waiting behind you if you refuse. If in a heartbeat someone else will purchase it, you're SOL, pay the options.
Doesn't hurt to ask them to remove it, but if they know they'll have someone else, try to instead negotiate what they're offering. In my case I had $2500 of adders, but most of them I would have taken anyway.
TAG tracker, Sherlock OBD port protector, the Acura Protection package, and wheel locks. The only thing they added that I wouldn't have taken is the wheel and rim protection (1-year) and heck I even added the back of the seat covers for when you fold down the seats.
Agreeing to that and a $250 deposit got me, instead of someone else, into the car I couldn't fathom not owning in the color I absolutely wanted.
