Does anyone know how to turn off the hill assist on the '24 ITS?

So I'm not really sure what the difference is functionally between hill start assist (which is default on and you cant turn off) and brake hold (which is default off and you can turn on). I discovered hill start assist yesterday when the brake hold was off and I didn't roll back a bit on a hill at a stop sign when I moved my foot from the brake to the clutch. So I looked it up.

I have been playing with the brake hold to see what it does and as far as I can tell it does the same thing. If the car has hill start assist on by default, when would one need brake hold?

in my 2004 Acura TL 6MT I used to use my hand brake when I was stopped on a steep hill and there was a car behind me to avoid roll-back when I moved my foot from the brake to the clutch. So in the ITS without a hand brake, I thought the hill start assist or brake hold would function like a hand brake. But then I read this from the manual...

From hill start assist...
"Hill start assist may not prevent the vehicle from
rolling downhill on a very steep or slippery slope, and
will not operate on small inclines.
Hill start assist is not a replacement for the parking
brake."

From break hold...
"Activating the automatic brake hold system
on steep hills or slippery roads may still
allow the vehicle to move if you remove
your foot from the brake pedal.
If a vehicle unexpectedly moves, it may
cause a crash resulting in serious injury or
death.
Never activate the automatic brake hold
system or rely on it to keep a vehicle from
moving when stopped on a steep hill or
slippery roads."

So if neither the hill start assist or the brake hold can be reliably used to keep the ITS from rolling backwards or forwards on a steep hill (like a hand brake) what good are they?

I get the warning if the road is slippery and the car loses traction and slides. But on a dry steep hill? I hope I never have to parallel park the ITS facing up and especially facing down on a steep hill. I miss my handbrake!

The brake hold can be used to hold the brakes for you at long traffic lights, railroad crossings etc. when it's long enough to be annoying but not long enough to acitvate the e-brake or shut off the car. I tend to use it at the drive-thru, as I can fumble around for loose change like an idiot without accidentally stepping off the brakes.

Edit:
The car can definitely roll backwards with Hill Start Assist, which is why it's an assist. For moderate slopes it works just fine.

I've never actually had brake hold fail on me on an incline (although there is a recall notice for that, some sort of defect). I think that's more in there as a legal disclaimer, so people can't sue.

I think they are just saying that for liability purposes. 99% of cases it will be fine, but in that 1% where it doesn't work they aren't liable.

I think this may be difference:

Hill start assist works when you are in gear with the clutch depressed on a hill. I don't see that it works in neutral. It is short duration.

"Depress the clutch pedal, and shift to one of the forward gears when facing uphill,
or reverse when facing downhill, then release the brake pedal."

Brake hold works when you are in both neutral and in gear with the clutch depressed on a hill . It can last up to 10 minutes.

"Keeps the brake applied after releasing the brake pedal until you shift into one of the gears other than N and
• Release the clutch pedal on a level road or when facing downhill.
• Release the clutch pedal and depress the accelerator pedal when facing uphill.
You can use this system while the vehicle is temporarily stopped, like at traffic lights
and in heavy traffic."

When I took delivery the guy walking me through all of the features basically explained that the Brake Hold was for traffic instances where you wanted to not keep your foot on the brake pedal.
