Isn't Integra known for it's simplicity and not being too loaded with gimmicks like hybrid systems? One of reasons why I went great lenghts getting Teggy shipped over to EU was that it's a relatively simple car that still has most of modern essentials. Having a hybrid engine would have totally ruined it for me, especially considering I don't drive a whole lot which is disastrous to batteries.

I'm so intrigued by what made you bring an Integra over there. Usually you see people bringing over pickup trucks and other things not built for life in Europe. Is Latvia pretty lax with vehicle standards? I have family in Germany and can only imagine what the TUV would have you do to the thing to make it legal.

Well, the thing is cars have become ridiculously expensive here. A tiny car which has almost nothing apart from carplay and perhaps parking sensors Renault Clio which I considered for a while used cost around 20-25k $. I spent about the same on Teggy including all costs except registration. First car I almost bought was the Accord 2016-2017 EX-L V6, but knowing how hard they come at you with taxes for large engines it held me back for a good while. Then all of a sudden last year I remembered Acura existed. And the new Teggy popped up, that was a love at first sight :p.

I’ll be actually soon be going through the final process of certification. Each EU country may have it’s own specific regulations. Being from Latvia, as far as I have researched I just need to install rear fog light and the switch inside of course. Otherwise it should be good to go without other modifications. Blinkers are amber, front and rear. Blinkers are on mirrors as well. Front and rear beams are fine as well. Emissions may or may not be tested, that’s not a problem either. The only other thing that they may want to test is noise level or smth. But it should be a quick process. Anyhow I have my winter tyre set ready so I’ll sure post some pics when it’s all good to roll on EU roads. ;)

A lot of cars used to be known for being simple transportation that focused on value and driving pleasure alone - Civic, Prelude, Integra, etc etc. But these days almost everything is loaded up with tech, driver assist features, varying degrees of powertrain gadgets and such. Be it turbo charging, hybrids, cameras and sensors, etc. I would only say the base trim levels of the civic are really fairly simple cars these days.

I don't think offering a more powerful and efficient hybrid in the Integra would've ruined its purpose, just gives it even more appeal to a larger audience potentially. Again, offering the hybrid as an additional option along with the ICE turbo options. Hybrids have been around for 25+ years at this point, it's hardly new tech, and we're finally starting to see how it can be a big benefit to performance rather than a penalty to it.
