As the CTR is already just under 40, I suspect if its to be an analog to it for Acura it being 40K is almost unavoidable. Only options would be that there will clearly be no AWD and no shared engine with the CTR. Even if its the 272HP 2.0T the added accessories would make up some of that costs bringing it close to 40 again. I'd be amazed if its under 38K which is already over the TLX base price.
Itā€™s a difficult area the Integra is at. They donā€™t want to make the Type S compete with TLX but they donā€™t want it to compete with Type R. Iā€™m going to wait and see if those rumours are true.

I think more that the market looking at a Type-S Teggy may not be looking for a bigger, softer family sedan.

I do wish the TLX had more power to it or less weight, every time I see one in black I just LOVE the style.

Acura/Honda donā€™t want the Integra to cross to much into TLX Territory.
That makes sense. Iā€™m not certain if itā€™s feasible though. Looking at the WRX it runs the range of $30-41k and thatā€™s all with the same engine output. The prospect of getting two performance levels in a $10k range would be a surprise to me.

If the type s is below 40k Iā€™m guessing itā€™s going to be on a GTi performance level, and not a golf R.

If it can compete with neither the TLX for the CTR the Type S seems only set to be disappointing no?

I think it depends on the price and perspective. If the Type S has performance like the GTi and costs about the same, it would be a winner to me. If itā€™s going to have performance limitations, the value would have to come from the price.

I wouldnā€™t say itā€™s a disappointment per say. Itā€™s more about not wanting to compete pricing wise. The Type S should have upgraded suspension maybe adaptive suspension, added stiffness to the structure tunnels, cross brace like TLX S (Hopefully), Quad Exhaust tips.

I would be alot of money that the Type S will definitely be a 40k car. Look at the landscape. Vehicles like the GTI and WRX hit 40k. The type S with similar performance but a more premium interior + an Acura badge will definitely be around 40k. In fact I would be surprised if the fully loaded Integra hits 40k either

Honestly Iā€™m not sure what will end up being the production Type S.
I think the major problem for Acura lies with the fact that the civic is one of the biggest compact cars. So basing the Integra off the civic saves money in design but like TigerEye said they Now need to thread a needle on Pricing since the size difference in usable space between TLX and Integra will not be huge

while the TLX is 10 inches longer, the front and rear leg room compared to the 22 civic sedan is only different by ~3 inches (on paper, real life itā€™s probably pretty noticable).

So to get a car with far better MPG, great cargo space and fully loaded for about the base TLX. I just donā€™t see why youā€™d get the TLX. Outside of just liking the exterior styling better.

Well that kinda represents poor product planning on Acura's part. They should have balanced the style/ space issues of the TLX better. They knew it was smaller than a Civic on the inside. They had plenty of other vehicles to benchmark it against. They had plans to bring back the Integra over 6 years ago. Vehicles like they IS and ES can coexist while being similarly priced becuase they have defined roles and target markets

Btw that video I posted they mentioned that dealerships are now able to order Integra Accessories. They say that usually that means we are right around the corner for a reveal/on sale date.

Doubt itā€™s 100% accurate but that dealer page reads like a dream lol

Looks like they changed it already, but it did read real nice while it was up. The plot continues to twist.
The fact they took it downā€¦
Could be good news lol

the specs were honestly too good to be true. 1.5 VTEC and SHAWD.
Acura wouldnā€™t be able to keep demand quelled

I hope I'm wrong but I feel like it might have been an assumption on the writers end becuase every other Acura has SHAWD. There wasn't any other information we did not know in the article such as automatic transmission or hp. The 2 dudes in the video posted yesterday talking about the Integra were saying they didn't know much either so I doubt this dealership would.

This. Also I would take that dealership part with a grain of salt
