Has anyone driven both an FK8 and a new A-spec and Type S? I am considering getting either the A-spec or the Type S depending on the price point/dealer markup.

Of course, getting the A-spec would be a downgrade in performance, but with current prices and markup it might have to be the option. Was wondering how differently it feels compared to the FK8.

The Type S would be ideal if I can get a reasonable price, but browsing the "honest acura dealers" thread it seems unlikely.

It all depends on what you value more: Performance or Comfort

Should not be too different than comparing a Civic SI (10th) vs FK8 in terms of performance.

In terms of comfort, the ASpec should be better than the FK8.

Type S in the house!
I had an Aspec and then moved up to the Type S. Improvements of course include more power, steering, suspension, and switching between comfort modes actually makes a difference. The largest change is the clutch. You can actually feel where it engages, and it's good to 500hp(so I have heard). Aspec clutch needs to be upgraded if your going to do power mods, it can slip with just a tune. It did cost me a pretty penny to upgrade but it makes me smile walking up to it and the drive is amazing.

Depends on how you totaled the car. Get some insurance quotes before you make a decision.

Where are you located? Acura of Santa Barbara did right by me on my Integra 6MT reservation. No markup beyond MSRP. No gouging on dealer installed options.

I test drove a FK8 and 10th Gen Si before getting a 2023 A-Spec + Tech with the 6MT, traded it for an ITS, then traded that for an FL5. I've seen some things.

First, don't bother with any of the CVT Integras--if you're getting an Integra, get a 6MT. You should have no trouble getting MSRP for one brand new, or a nice deal on a used/Certified model with reasonable miles.

A move to a FK8 to a 6MT Integra will be similar to a move to a Civic Si in performance, however, you're going to notice a HUGE increase in creature comforts. The infotainment is better, sound system is MUCH better... they've done a great job with the 11th Gen updates, and that translates over to the Integra lineup. The suspension will be softer, and you'll likely miss the FK8 seats... if you can pull the seats before the car is salvaged, it'll be worth the hassle.

You already know there's a performance/power decrease from FK8 to 6MT Integra, but it has plenty of torque for daily driving. You'll do more shifting than you realize--the Integra gearing is VERY short. That's fun for some... a rude awakening for others.

The ITS is great, but as you're seeing, it's getting harder and harder to find them at MSRP. It wasn't too tough at the beginning of the year, but Acura dealerships are seemingly seeing Honda dealerships making big profits with ADM's on the FL5 and they're trying to cash in as well. MSRP dealerships have waiting lists, and production volume is going to be kept low. I wouldn't buy the ITS at more than MSRP, but that's just me.

The ITS will match/beat your FK8 in performance while feeling a little less raw. It's very similar to the A-Spec + Tech but with a 2.0T. The gears are longer, it has plenty of torque... it's a great vehicle, but not for more than MSRP.

It really depends on where you are financially, and what you want out of your car.

How do you like the FL5? I shopped around and found out that I could get an FL5 for very close to MSRP...

My dashcam showed 0% my fault both police report and insurance adjuster agreed. Other driver ran red. So insurance shouldn't be an issue. But insurance was kind of pricy on the FK8

How close to MSRP is "close"? If you can get it for under $50k, I'd get the Type-R.

I absolutely love it and I'm glad I made the switch, but that's just my personal opinion.

I traded in my 21 FK8 mainly because of seat comfort problems with my wife, she wasn’t comfortable in them. The Integra feels more refined, while the FK8 is more raw. I feel the Integra puts power down better from a stop, shifter feels better. But Im comparing a 38k car to a 52k car. For 40k the FK8 is a unbeatable value.

It would be under $50k (47 before taxes and tags). I don't know what type of markup type S's are having but obviously it is going to be much more than that

That's a markup of just over $1,500, and the average FL5 markup fluctuates between $5k and $10k. Anyone who has hunted for an FL5 for more than an hour is going to tell you $47k is a great deal. It's not MSRP, but MSRP deals are very few and far between.

The ITS can be found at MSRP, but it's tougher to do right now. Most MSRP-only dealerships have waiting lists for the car, so they're gone as soon as they leave PDI. Dealerships who have them on-hand tend to be those with markups on the car (anywhere up to $15k). Of course, you can always try negotiating with a dealership marking up the ITS if it's what you really want, but it's not always easy.

If you decide not to go for that FL5 deal (and I would if I were you), I'd be interested.
