It's for mutual benefits, if they had caught it before I came, I would've been out in an hour. I wasn't going to sign the docs w/o it being fixed. So it delayed everybody's (service tech, sales guy, finance manager) work.

Good for you...I'm not that guy
And how's that working out for you?

Net-net, it seems like you still failed to inspect your car, and ended up disappointed with nothing you can actually do about it except complain on a forum. How exactly is being "that guy" helping you? Dragging your dealership experience in this thread can hypothetically help others, but it isn't doing a whole lot for you, right?

What I think you're trying to get across is that it sucks. In that I guess we agree... but some things in life just suck. Maybe your expectations aren't unreasonable to you- but where expectations meet reality doesn't always align. That's all I'm trying to say. In this case it really comes down to just shrugging your shoulders and moving on. This whole outrage thing is just something we as a society like to do now...

I don't think the delay impacts the dealer as much as you may think. At least, it's worth the risk that you'd just accept delivery without really glancing at it much like 90%+ of their other customers do.

Expectations vs reality.

See my thread in the Issues / Warranty forum. I went to my local dealer last week to pick up my car for a swapped wheel that had a defect, and every A-Spec I looked at had a wider panel gap on the passenger-side light/bumper versus the driver's side. And every one of them had the crooked hood issue. These cars are just not up to the same standard as other cars. Unfortunately, we just have to accept it.

Has anyone been able to find an MSRP dealer near Hartford, CT to work with? If so, please PM me with dealer/salesperson info. Thanks.

They're currently on the list as a dealer that charges ADM, but I was able to get an MSRP deal on an ITS in platinum white/ebony from McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago. YMMV
This is happening a lot all over, dealerships that were charging an ADM are now not, in some cases anyway so this whole list need to be revisited.

This is why some prefer made in Japan on their inner doors label.
You just can't match their fit and finish.
There is a small part of me, 1% that would almost prefer an FL5 for this reason.

I went to Sterling McCall Acura - Sugar Land (Texas) to check my status on their waitlist. Back in April they were only charging $1,495 for a required package of Tint, Nitrogen in the tires, and ResistAll. On 11/28/2023 it is $8,500 + $1,495 (package listed earlier). With the number of cars available nationwide I am going to get my deposit back and buy somewhere else when I am ready.

They even had two pre-owned, Platinum White and Apex Blue Pearl with around 800 miles each that they are trying to sell for 59K. It looks like they came from CA and I think they were press cars.

I live less than 10 min from Sterling McCall. If you want to drive or check mine out before buying DM me. Not surprised by this given how terrible my experience was with their sales guy. When I sent him a buyer sheet from Acura Columbus and asked them to match it he said "I suggest you go to Ohio." I guess that counts as taking a salesman's advice! Lol

There are still issues with the FL5. It may be more apparent on the DE5 because of some of the pearl paints, especially white and tiger eye... but panel gaps, creaks, rattles, etc. etc- you're not getting away from them by getting an FL5.

And here's the hilarious part- ALL of the engines are made in Ohio. Yes, even the ones that get put in Japanese Domestic Market FL5s.

Some people get the FL5 because they're obsessed with the Type R badge, and I can understand that to a degree. Lots of nostalgia there, and therefore to them the FL5 is indeed "more special", as much as that phrase irritates the hell out of me. "Special" is in how something invokes emotion to an individual, and to these Honda fanboys it does feel more special. To me, I never really cared for the Civic but always loved the Integra. Ergo, the ITS is more special to me....

But there is absolutely zero definitive evidence that the fit and finish issues are exclusive to the DE5. Welcome to mass production. Production issues literally applies to every make and model. Porsche basically builds cars to order and they still get it wrong, pretty often actually. And badly. I remember one guy's car arriving with wheels that were supposed to be two-tone silver/black that were all black. Literally no other car had ever arrived like that so he leaned into it and says its "1 of 1"... Another guy had half his roof one shade of silver, the other a different shade. Yet another guy ordered carbon bucket seats and his car arrived with the standard "sofa" 14-ways. These things happen every day. So don't think an ITS should be the exception "because it's a $50K car"... GT Porsches fetching $150k ADMs have panel gaps and paint defects occasionally.

Maybe try Rolls Royce, or get Ferrari to build you a one-off like Eric Clapton?

Thanks for the offer. When I was there earlier this week getting service, I was able to drive the Platinum White one. I am for sure adding one to the garage. I am not in a hurry. I actually want to see if they offer Urban Grey Pearl in the 2025 ITS.

I got my ITS, 10/31/2023, as a used CPO car from Acura by Executive, in North Haven, CT. It had 1,015 miles on it and is Lunar Silver Metallic. $49,396 + $599 doc fee and tax and reg. One reason for the lowered price was to get the price under $50k because Connecticut charges at a higher tax rate of 7.75% for over $50k, under $50k is at 6.375. I was happy to get the extra warranty coverage because of the CPO, and of course pay less than MSRP. Brandon Hines was the sales manager I communicated with. Hopefully they do right by you.

Congrats on the deal and I think this is good news for prices/markups in general. I bet we see used ones in the low to mid 40s 6-12 months from now.
