Call me crazy but I love how the fenders look. If you “cringe” at something idk why you’d even consider buying it.

Similar with the price. This car was my “budget” choice. I like the Cadillacs but I would never buy a GM product. So the next step for me for 4 doors and a manual would be an M3, and money no object I’d still pick the Acura because I “cringe” at the M3’s overall design.

I guess it’s unpopular opinion but I think this car is an absolute steal at $52k.

I did throw a used F80 into the mix. I love almost everything about that car but it’s 5 years old at the earliest at this point. Just too old. But if there was any competition with the ITS for me personally, it’s the F80.

I'd buy a gm product with a V8. Not sure how this boosted V6 is on reliability.

It's not even the engine I'd be worried about. They just don't hold up well, and they're just not well engineered.

What's funny is I almost gave them a chance with the Camaro, way back ~2008. As a former A-body Chevelle owner, I won't sit here and say I don't love a Chevy V-8, and I loved the way the 5th gen Camaro looked, and performance figures as advertised were impressive. I was willing to forgive the litany of stupid electronic gremlins and random failings of all my other friends' GM cars I'd helped them troubleshoot and commiserate with over the years, and I was dead set on buying one- until I drove one. It felt like a tank; not in a fun "american muscle" way either, it felt heavy and if you'll believe it, slower than I expected. And I know it's a widely discussed issue but I just HATED how poor the visibility was. Just breaks down to poor engineering.

I very briefly considered a C7 Z06 for a bit too, until I started hearing about the overheating issues. That was the nail in the coffin for me. The C8 and it's "golf bag" requirement was just validation.

The Caddys are intriguing, but wholly uninterested in ever actually purchasing one. Don't care about the price.

Well, I posted about my test drive in #207. I thought about it for several weeks, and cross shopped an m240i, m340i, m3, and CT4-v blackwing, and ultimately decided to put down a deposit on a type-s today. I just think its the best combination of daily usability, amazing manual, real driver engagement, taught chassis and steering, safety features (necessary for my wife's commute) and price. And I think it looks really good.

The others were much more expensive, didn't feel as special, had mushy steering, lacked safety features with a manual (or entirely), had a mushy manual, and/or had less headroom for a helmet.

Sounds like it could be a 3-6 months to get one, but I don't really need it anytime soon (just want it). Still, I'm pretty excited. I'm waiting for blue.

Excellent choice and hopefully the wait will be shorter than expected!

Having spent several years as a professional mechanic in an independent shop working on all makes and models of cars from the occasional Rolls Royce to the everyday Chevy and everything in between, I certainly developed an appreciation of how how each brand has their signature mix of design, engineering, quality of materials, fit, finish and importantly to me, reliability. When Honda/Acura gets it right, they are second to none.

My first new car was a '91 Civic Si and I enjoyed it for 13 years until I bought a new '04 TSX 6MT which I have loved driving for the past 20 years. Fun to drive cars with superb handling, slick manuals and reliability that made them a pure joy to own.

When I drove the ITS, I instantly had those familiar feelings and a big smile on my face. I knew this is the next one for me and I am also waiting with restrained excitement:)

I think the Monroney sticker is supposed to stay with the car until removed by the consumer. Even though mine was officially a used car, the dealer retained the Monroney. I filed it with the Monroney for my ex-ITR. :)
