I’ve thought about it for a while, but if was to go non type S, I think I’d really have to consider a base tune. Specially since the Integra will be heavier and I can’t see them bumping the power up enough to make it feel any different from the Si. I’ve always been a no tune person for warranty but these civic engines are so starved from the factory it’s hard not to consider it.

Plus with California's new "Tunes are illegal" law this is going to suck for anyone that wants an Si or Teg over there.

lol Starved? Tell me you never had to deal with a 70's or 80's engine without telling me you never had to deal with a 70's or 80's engine. 220hp in a 2800lb car was a LOT in the early 90's.

I get that, but it’s now 2021 and we have lots of tech to get more HP and TQ to the ground. Asides from the clutch a base tune on the 1.5 is pretty reliable, so there’s plenty of power to be had. Look at the GTI 240/270 and gets civic MPG. There’s really no reason asides from California to be cutting power like that.

I mean yeah.. if you ignore weight, gearing, tires...Also that it gets WORSE PG than the Si, and much worse than the base Civic...

I mean if you ignore ALL that... you're right.

Honda in general is more conservative. Especially with new Cali laws. They want to be universal. That being said, the new Si is underrated. Stock on a roller dynojet it’s hitting 195/195 to the wheels. 216/214 to the hubs on a dynopack. These numbers came from ososik who tested his at hondata just after they tested theirs.

I’ll probably do a basic tune. Back in the RSX type S days I was one of the first to have K Pro installed. It was so new I got a bundle deal with the still experimental (but ended up being the best) IPS k2 cams, eibach dual valve springs, ti retainers, kpro, AND hondata and IPS paid the installer for the cams directly. All for $1200 lol. I learned KPro very well and did basic tunes for a lot of guys remotely on ClubRSX back then. Mine was safe, great AF and voltage, but still extreme. And at that level, no matter how safe it is. Things break. Those days are behind me.

These days on the mustang I just run the ford racing flash. And even then at the 91 octane timing even though we have 93 here and there is a 93 variant.

I have a lot to learn about what hondata does these days. Flashpro I guess is the new thing? Is it a one time flash for a specific set up as opposed to kpro that had flashes built in but you could fully customize as well. Idk. Then there’s others I see. Pherable or something like that? K tune? Lol. I’m behind. Whatever the basic flash hondata does will be for me. And as a daily, hopefully a dct, which should handle a basic flash easily. (Don’t worry. The mustang is a 6 speed. I just don’t need both to be manual).

Just looked it up and now I remember when flashpro came out for the 06 Si. In 2004ish I only had the option to send in the ecu for a reflash of one calibration. Or kpro was adding a daughter board to the ecu so you could usb in and tune.

Flash pro is the same as kpro but doesn’t require sending in your ecu or soldering. It plugs into obdii and then you usb in. I remember being mad when it came out since it’s basically kpro while allowing you to keep your ecu physically stock. So that’s cool. And dangerous ?. I know how to tune and flash pro allows for it. I’ll have to be strong and stick with the base calibration it comes with.

Yeah it’s just going to be my daily, so just a little extra oomph is all I’m looking for since my 10th gen Si I just felt like it needed a little more life to it. I’m very hopeful for a DCT and hopefully some more aggressive shift algorithms, as I’m assuming as with most Honda/Acura cars they show add a ton of restraints (looking at you TLX type S) lol

My Si sees 41-42 MPG in highway driving. GTI is rated at 34 MPG highway... not sure what it actually gets. Can anyone confirm?

here’s the first from a YouTuber, but just like prior generations it does much better than stated just like the Si. I think on the 7.5 you’d see similar to the Si around 40.

DailyMotor is really good with doing these MPG tests. I always look forward to see what he posts.

That's impressive for the power and weight of that car.
