I'll start by saying that I am not affiliated with this company and I purchased this product.

I have utilized throttle controllers on the majority of my cars. I have been a fan of the responsiveness that they add. When I picked up my Integra, I knew I would by modifying it, so a throttle controller was on my list. I had come across some issues with the Pedal Commander that scared me away, so I researched alternatives and arrived at the Roar Pedal. This one was new to me and also a fraction of the price, so I did some digging, then decided to take a shot on it.

Here is the link: Roar Pedal® Throttle Response Controller

I opted for the strictly Bluetooth version that is controlled via the app. It arrived within 4 days or so. Packaging was nice and was high quality. Everything was laid out nicely in the box. The controller itself feels well-made, has nice wire looms and sturdy factory-style connectors, etc. It also has a test light that signals your connections are tight and the controller was installed correctly.

Installation was as easy and straightforward as you would expect. Only challenging part was contorting myself into the footwell to make my connections. Connectors clicked tight and felt very secure. The provided 3M adhered well and allowed me to tuck the controller out of the way.

The app functions very well. No issues with connectivity. One of the deciding factors for me purchasing this unit was "lock mode," which essentially allows the throttle to be disabled until you unlock it via the app. This is just some extra peace of mind for me.

The actual effect is pronounced. I cycled through all settings and settled on "Sport." I want to be clear that this product obviously doesn't add power, but it does wake the car up and it increases the responsiveness.

All of the above being said, I am very pleased with the product and its quality, effect, etc. Just thought I would post this to share. Hoping it helps some of you.

I have a customer who came to us for help diagnosing issues after he purchased and installed a similar competing product (bought from a different shop) in September, has had all sorts of issues, including a fried ECM now.

I've requested he remove and dispose this item. Hondata, KTuner, and COBB are the only proven options for more power on this platform, all these pedal commanders / piggyback solutions will cause long-term issues.

I am also distrustful of piggy-back units and how they manipulate data and components. I agree with you there. Had he installed a piggy-back unit or a throttle controller?

Surprises me that, if it was a throttle controller, it would lead to a fried ECM.

Hmm - Are you under the impression that this Roar device is in fact not a piggy-back unit? ("Piggybacking means intercepting and modifying the signals that are being sent to the ECU.")

Thanks for the response. What you bring up is fair. Yes, theoretically throttle controllers are piggy-back units intercepting and manipulating signals. What I should have said is that I am distrustful of piggybacks that trick boost when he mentioned power-adders. That's where my confusion came from, as I thought we had moved in that direction when he talked about adding power, especially since throttle controllers don't add power.

I want to be clear that I am not challenging anything or anyone here. I am genuinely surprised that a throttle controller would fry an ECU and that's a concerning piece of information. If that is the case, I learned something today and appreciate it. Thanks, everyone.
