First post on these boards and it's not a good one. I was unable to allocate a presale car after trying for hours on Thursday. I'm kind of disappointed in how ACURA chose to offer these presale units to the public the same way the SNKRS app does for Air Jordans. What's worse is that I am a (valued?) employee at an ACURA Dealership and they refuse to sell me one of their stock units that are coming in despite me showing interest and a commitment to buy it 90 days before it was released. Just shows the amount of greed out there among these sales departments.

I suspect Acura could've done something to better manage the reservation system, but the issue you're running into with your dealership/employer is a different problem entirely--check the Honest Dealership thread and buy from a competitor, I'm sure you can find a dealership in a reasonable radius willing to sell to you at MSRP or get you on a list. Your new Type-S will look great in your employer's parking lot with a competitor's license plate frame on it!

I’ve worked for automotive dealerships in Parts and Service for a long time (among other things) and I’m closing in on 20 years with GM (Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick-GMC). I spent 15 years with one dealer and that dealer sounds similar to yours….most employees, including myself, had to buy from a competitor. I never personally had an issue buying from a competitor when my own sales department couldn’t help me.

Though, depending on how Acura corporate works, you may lose your employee discount.

The dealer I bought my teggy from has sold cars to other dealership employees because they are MSRP no adm. Sad when one dealership takes advantage of customers and employees. Kind of crazy when both dealers are only 15 miles from each other. 20 minute drive saves you thousands.

Funny you said this because immediately after my L on Thursday, I called the Dealership that I used to work for which happens to be my current dealerships main competitor. I scheduled a meeting with the sales manager and explained my situation and he was intrigued at the idea of doing exactly what you have suggested. I'm not banking on this, but he informed me yesterday that he will speak with the GM and see if he will allow a $1K ADM... which I would completely be happy to pay. I put a $1k deposit on their last stock unit that was open. Liquid Carbon / Ebony.

Glad I'm not the only one in the Dealership world that has had this experience.
Our employee discount is basically a lease program. You're able to lease any car in the fleet and ACURA will pay $200 towards the lease payment, and the Dealership will match the $200 as well. So after taxes you get about $360ish / month towards any car you want. This is transferrable to any ACURA dealership you work for, but I am not looking to lease.

Hopefully the deal I have with the competing dealer will work out. I like the car and have been looking at a new fun toy to play around with. I thought for sure the ITS was for me... but after experiencing the Dealership games first hand, I don't know anymore.

It's not all bad though. Still have another fun car to hoon around in.

I wanted red or blue on black. So I didn’t do the offical reservation system, but I am 3rd in line at my dealer. If I can afford it when it comes. Worst case I’d have to wait a bit money wise.

Yep. You're not the only one.

That sounds very very similar to the Lexus employee program. GM offers special lease and purchase programs for employees. The purchase programs are very good. Unfortunately, I'm not currently interested in any of the vehicles we offer, aside from the CT4-V Blackwing and right now, I don't have Cadillac credentials so, no special deal. Sigh.

Did anyone get charged but the confirmation page timed out? Wonder if the reservation was successful or not

You should get a confirmation email. Also if you selected a dealer that you were in talks with they should have notified you.

I had 8 pending charges on the 11th with only one confirmed reservation, but only 3 completed charges as of today--charges without confirmation emails are being treated as waitlist payments, your dealership can confirm.

I plan to get the other two charges refunded, I assume Chase prevented the other five from going through, but I'm not totally sure.

The lowest I've found with a car actually available any time soon was $9k over

If the fit & finish, which seems to be really good on the CTRs, is not that great on ITS then I would start thinking about which car I'd actually want at that price, but until the ITS lands and we find out, I would not be rushing to buy a CTR at markup. Can't believe these civics are still selling!

A Honda dealer just texted me, they are charging more than Acura charges for an ITS 😳
I've had the most passive aggressive back and forth texts with Cali sales ppl after telling them no on their markups for the CTR lmao
