Just throwing some dealer “insight” out there while I’ve been calling around, including other states. Test drove a 20 Civic Type R & they told me the 23 Type R’s should be here later this year but coming sooner than expected. Called another local dealer & after an email exchange last Saturday he told me after they got out of their morning meeting that same day, that all Honda models especially the Type R will have scarce production until Q3 of 2024. He confirmed that it wasn’t a typo also said he is under the impression that St Louis area dealers will be marking up from MSRP. Called a dealer in PA about a used Civic they had on their Nissan lot but also share an Acura lot under the same name & they said that Acura new model productions are being made & shipped months ahead of Honda & that the manager knows about Type S availability & pricing & will get back to me - he hasn’t yet. I’m in touch with another dealer to hopefully clear up some of these rumors & will report back.

Was this Montgomeryville Acura? Their website says one of the few selling Acuras at MSRP. Ironically, when I went to order my Integra this dealer was not an option on the site despite being second closest to me.

It was Montgomeryville actually! Small world! I’d have to rent a car or fly in to pick it up. They sold the Type R yesterday but I’m hoping to hear back on Monday regarding the Type S details. I put some more feelers out to some local dealers as well. Someone will be willing to play ball in this country…somewhere. 🤞🏽

Ha, that's cool! If the Type R pops back up, let me know and I'd be happy to lay eyes on it for ya.
Good luck with your hunt and let us know if you get any more details on the Type S!!

Expectations for the Type-S
  • 272HP
  • Manual and DCT(possibly Accord automatic) options
  • Suspension based on the CTR, but tuned more for a softer ride than the CTR

What I'd LOVE/DREAM for:
  • Previous CTR engine, possibly tweaked to "only" be 290-300hp, a tune change to make it a little smoother for a daily for example giving up a bit of top end for a little more bottom/mid range.
  • Manual.
  • Suspension is almost identical to the CTR but different springs/bars to make it a bit more manageable on daily driven regular roads

so now that base model pricing has dropped. Do we still think the Type S will come in under 40k? Seems like that 37-39k range might be the case, considering top trip base is just under 36k.

Assuming that there’s a tech package, I would guess a full loaded Type S would be no more than $43,000 with premium paint and destination. Given that a not even fully loaded A3 front wheel drive is almost that much, getting the Type S should be a no brainer!

Type S will carry everything over from the A-Spec tech with little more structural rigidity, stickier tires, 19 inch rims standard and probably a different wing

I'm expecting 39-41 as it seems almost everything else was shifted up about 1500-2k from expectations from inflation. Still in the range that I'd pay for.

I feel like the ITS might be teased this week. Reason being is that in 2 weeks Mid-Ohio happens for IMSA which Acura is a sponsor for that race. Teasing the ITS with a reveal set for Mid-Ohio would be smart.

It'd be a lot sooner than I imagined, but it would be welcome if so.

But then, have they been "smart" recently? 🤷‍♂️
I really hope to see something soon tho.
