Background: on the waitlist in 12th position since April at Courtesy Acura. Previously not allowed to have a a test drive with their demo ITS. The gracious sales manager informed me today I can come in for a test drive since I have a deposit down and as long as I kept it under 10 miles. I’ve owned a 2000 Integra LS, 04’ MDX, 06’ TL automatic.
Visuals: stunned by the physical presence upon my first glance at the ITS, even more appalled from pictures. Front to back and at every angle the car has a seamless composition that feels very natural, dominating yet not excessive. Not much to say because by now you know what the ITS looks like, either love it or hate it.
Driving Experience: elated. Never owned a fast car and as a father of two I’ve grown grandpa driving habits for quite some time. It’s been at least over a decade since I’ve driven a manual. Seeing another comment on this forum I evoked the same joke with the salesman, “I gotta ask, why are there three pedals…?” He gave the nervous laughter.
Driving the new Acura Integra Type S was such a wholesome experience that left me in awe. From the moment I stepped on the accelerator, the engine unleashed its power with a satisfying roar. Once the muscle memories unlocked from depressing the clutch and engaging the gas pedal, a rush of nostalgia from the old Integra days overcame me. Granted, going from 130HP to 320 ponies with turbo should elicit such excitement. The precise handling and responsive steering made every twist and turn on the road an absolute joy.
The gearbox shifting was seamless and delivered a rush of adrenaline, everything felt so well connected. The engine's power was perfectly complemented by the smooth-shifting, allowing me to effortlessly transition through the gears and tap into the full potential of the Integra Type S. I did not redline, wishing to respect the person that would buy this car.
But it's not just about the raw power; I’ve driven my brothers Tesla and a friends GTR. This car isn’t about blazing speeds. the Integra Type S exudes a sense of refinement and quality. The machine is meticulously crafted, showcasing premium materials and modern design elements. Every control and switch feels solid and well-placed, contributing to an overall feeling of luxury and and maturation. I’m in my late 30’s and it’s as if the Integra went on hiatus and had grown up with me.
interior: solid. Nothing flashy, nothing feels cheap and has a timeless look that most people shouldn’t get sick of looking at after a long time. I prefer the analog RPM and speedometer the TLX S has, but I can deal with the digital display. In an age with too much touchscreen I appreciate the buttons with quality tactile feedback. Really sad about no homelink however.
Sound: engine sounds authentic. Exhaust was not loud, but hits the right tones.
Conclusion: hundred percent would certainly buy, if within range of MSRP and no ADM. matters very little to me if I can get a faster or more premium car for this price range. My sole intent is to own another Integra name with excellent user experience. Throw me in a Supercar and I’d have some fun but it’s not the same as the ultimate daily driving experience I’d get in the ITS. Gearbox is so well crafted it’ll never feel like a driving chore. I drive my children daily so that driving quality time spent in a vehicle is important to me.
brought my wife with me and her first word was, “Wow…!!!”. I was sold from her reaction. If you’re looking for a 10 second car, top luxury features, top track performance and pricing value, the ITS likely isn’t for you. If you’re looking for that old “Integra” feel with performance to match a mature lifestyle; I don’t need to convince you. You’re on the waitlist like me. Hopefully I’ll get one this year or the next. Much love and thank you Acura
