Yeah, you’re buying this as a 4th car where you don’t really care about the amenities, while having nearly a quarter of a million dollars in other cars.

That’s not many people’s situation here.

I went and sat in a A-Spec Tech, and couldn’t justify spending $55k OTD for a car with that interior (a combo of materials, build quality, and missing features).

For me it would be my one and only car. For you it’s a fun weekend toy that you can beat the piss out of for a couple hours, and then go hop back in to an X7 or M760.

Actually it’s not a weekend toy. That would be the job for my 996 or one of my Mini’s. The point is that it’s what I’ve been looking for as a daily. A lot of ‘features’ and ‘materials’ in cars are over-analyzed and/or overrated. It’s a car, not a living room. It’s got more than enough features! When you’ve had a lot of stuff, you realize that most of it doesn’t matter much.

if you have a big suv in the house, why would you want a fwd sedan as a "fun" car? its a cool car but if I was looking strictly for a fun car, this car would be low on the list..

Because I still want my car to be practical, since it’s my primary car.

I want to be able to throw a big cooler in it along with our bags and go hiking for a weekend, or go to the racetrack, and have the car be fun to drive along the way, which the SUV is not (don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic highway cruiser, but it’s not a Macan or X5 M50i).

There’s nothing wrong with wanting a car that is practical while still being fun to drive. If this were a third car for me, then sure, 2-doors and RWD all day long, but it isn’t.

hyundai might be complete shit, JD power could be completely wrong. I took a chance on my VW and its hasn't let me down.

JD Power is pretty unreliable because their data comes from customer surveys and not actual claims or dealer data.

Hyundai's problem also isn't that everything on them breaks. Its that the dealers are a total pain in the ass. My wife had an Elantra for years and we'd take it in around twice a year for service. Every single time I took it in they found like $800 worth of stuff they wanted to do. Oh the brakes are worn. Oh it need an alignment. Oh the coolant needs flushed. I took her car in once for an oil change and to change the snow tires for all-seasons and they had the car for four hours and when they called me to say it was ready I showed up and it still had snow tires on it and the old oil filter (which I had dated) was still on.

Hyundai corporate is also insane about the customer reviews so these service advisors practically beg you to rate them 10/10 and they try and do shit un-requested to impress you. One service advisor had my wife's car washed to try and get his 10/10 rating and he kept telling her he did it so he deserves a 10 and then I look at it when she gets home and they'd sprayed out the door jams with a pressure washer or something and there was water all over the carpet inside the car. These experiences have been consistent across half a dozen dealers in 4 states. Just the most predatory and incompetent dealer network I've ever seen.

God yes. Hyundai dealerships are the reason I won't buy another Hyundai and why I didn't look at the Genesis SUVs when shopping for one recently. Its a shame really because they make a pretty good car at a good price, but my god its like their recruiters wait outside of MLM meetings and hire the people who were too dishonest even for them.

This is our first Hyundai product, and probably our last.

If we don’t have anything go wrong with it, we’ll keep it for 10+ years, because on the surface it’s a great vehicle (size/space, technology/features, etc.), but the dealership network is horrible because they’re so slammed with ripping out blown up Theta II engines and doing anti-theft software updates that going in for regular maintenance requires weeks of pre-planning.

There’s no way I’d spend Genesis money for a Hyundai-level experience, no matter how gorgeous the interiors are.

You’re willing to sacrifice on features/build quality for the driving experience, nothing wrong with that.

Driving what I have now, I wasn’t willing to give up some of the features my current car has for what the ITS offered.

Guess im taking a chance cause im not paying 60k out the door for a civic. All the horror stories of vw, mines been one of the most reliable cars ive owned, which includes buncha 90s hondas.

Yeah same here. For an oil change you need to schedule weeks in advanced. Maintenance issue takes months to get in.
My Acura experience complete 180. Had it in their for the EVAP issue and an oil change. Both times gave me a free rental without asking and took care of a few minor issues. Fantastic customer service.

I’ve only had one service done on my TLX so far, but the experience was great.

Called a week in advance, told them I needed a loaner. When I showed up to drop the car off the loaner was already in the service bay waiting for me, and it took a couple of minutes for the paperwork.

Called me the next day to say the work was done, dropped the loaner off and got my car back, no issues.

As you said, the Acura experience was vastly better than the Hyundai experience, despite both cars costing about the same amount at ~$45k.

How's pricing on Elantra N or Kona N?

I hate the Elantra styling, even the new one, and the engine stories scare me off Hyundai.

This might sound a little nuts, but there’s nothing else out there at any price that I want as my personal daily driver. I’m not comparing spec to spec…I just want it. I think the ITS looks better than the CTR and I’m willing to trade seats for a sound system. I just want a car like this.

In the ‘dd’ category, we have a Suburban, an X7, and an M760 in the household. All my fun cars are either ‘vintage’ or track day.

What’s missing (because it hasn’t been offered) is something fun and manual that I can put my kids in once in a while and put a zillion miles on without worrying about attention, depreciation, etc.

Civic Si and Sport Touring 6mT fit this criteria for me as well. But since those are even nuttier pricing, might as well get the ITS or CTR.

I can't buy for 2 years so will see how it shakes out. I would love a GRC if it was a little roomier, maybe next gen.

If the color combos reported a few days ago stick , I don’t think I can put this deposit down. I need to get the colors I want, I can not settle

The GTI is a great car, kinda cramped compared to the Integra but the aftermarket is massive and for under 2k you can be making serious power. Full bolt ons and you can make 400+ to the wheels. I kinda of regret getting rid of my MK8, had it been a DSG I would probably still have it.
