Yep. lol the guy was scared to drive it cause it's a manualCouldnt stand the audio, unfortunately. Was that a customer riding along with the rep driving? lol
11 Things I wish I could tweak.Creating this thread so we can share our firsthand thoughts on looks at/drives in the Type-S...
I haven't driven one or ridden in one, but I just got done doing a fair amount of sitting in one, poking around at it, and even got to listen to it--here are some initial takeaways:
That's all I've got--no test drives until it's been PDI'ed or Monday 6/19, depending on who I asked. Not sure if those two things are the same, but I didn't find anything that made me want to bail on this purchase during this particular tour. A drive/ride will be the deciding factor for me.
- First and foremost, I truly believe someone blindfolded would have a REALLY hard time telling the A-Spec + Tech seat from the Type-S seat--the bolstering is slightly larger in the Type-S, and I'm talking ever so slightly. If you're on the bigger/wider side, you might find they offer a slightly tighter hold, but as a Size Medium-man, there's essentially no difference.
- That said, the middle portion of the Type-S does seem to have more grip than the ultrasuede in the A-Spec + Tech--I imagine they'll add to an enjoyable spirited driving experience (the A-Spec + Tech seats are enjoyable enough, IMO), but the nominally larger bolsters plus grippier centers do not make these a faux Type-R seat.
- I like the perforated wheel with the dimpled shift knob--aesthetically, it's a nice match--change either one, and you blow it. Oh well.
- I'm not a stickler for fit and finish, nor did I go over the car with a fine-tooth comb... but I didn't notice any issues. The paint looked good, the car was dirty from transit. I'm not buying this particular one, but I didn't see anything that would've stopped me.
- I will say the rear fender additions that are add-ons are pretty clearly add-ons--obviously one wouldn't caulk such a thing, but if you look for the seam, you won't un-see it.
- On a cold start, while sitting idle, the exhaust note isn't that different from the A-Spec + Tech--switch it to Sport+, however, and there's a noticeable difference. I'm no exhaust aficionado... but it does have a nice deep, bellowing sound even at idle. And yes, when revved, it does pop and bang. Not an "exhaust person", but it did make me smile.
- The back seat feels no different than the A-Spec + Tech, but your rear passengers may complain about the lack of a center armrest--it does seem like an odd omission. The exhaust isn't loud enough to drown out those complaints, but the ELS Audio could drown out an actual helicopter landing on the car. Do what you need to do.
- The engine looks great, and it has a great-looking hood--I'm loving how angular it is in the front, but wondering if certain colors (Black) might hide some of that.
- Overall, the car does seem much wider, but only at the fenders, not at the sills--this is odd because the sills are technically wider to align with the fenders. See for yourself. The wheels look great. The Brembo calipers are awesome. I love the contrast of gloss black and Platinum White. This car has plenty of exterior gloss black. Consider protective film if you're concerned.
- Overall, it's a MUCH sportier-looking vehicle. I'm pleased.
The alcantara in my SS1LE got a little bad but I think it was low quality and I never cleaned it until I was ready to sell it. a microfiber cloth and just a little spritz of plain water with some elbow grease seemed to do a nice job. Many ways to do it but this was easy, readily available and seemed to do a really nice job.Don't let maintenance scare you away from alcantara. It's really not that bad as long as you don't completely neglect it- and even if you do, just pay a professional to restore it to like new. Monthly cleanings with a decent cleaner (Sonax works great for me but there are plenty others)- or just soap and water- will be more than adequate.
awesome man, congrats!! time to change your car on the forum account pageHello everyone,
I have owned a 2017 Type R and I currently own a 2020 Type R. I am trading my car 2020 Type R in for a 2024 Integra Type S. I had a local dealership give me the keys on Friday night.
First impressions. I absolutely love the seats. I love the dealer installed accessories. And most importantly, and there's absolutely no doubt, the ITS IS FASTER and GRIPS the road better than my FK8. The braking was absolutely amazing! No brake fade, brakes did not overheat at all. The car was VERY responsive. I loved how the car communicated through the steering. I felt extremely confident behind the wheel. I experienced no shaking or body roll or front end raising during hard acceleration and absolutely no vibration when braking.
During the corners the car gripped the road hard, absolutely no torque steer. I almost couldn't tell it was FWD. I could feel the LSD engage very aggressively and was super responsive.
It has REAL engine noises, no fake plumb in noises. You could understand and tell what gear you were in with engine noise and responsiveness without having to look at the cluster.
Shifting: was an a
Yeah I'm going to update it lol. I also accidentally posted before I was done writing lol. But it's late. I will edit the post tomorrow and fix the grammer errors Auto correct got me a few times. But yeah I need to update my profile information lol. Its been a while since I posted. But I haven't seen anyone post actual driving experiences at least from what I can find. I took a bunch of pictures but the forum wouldn't let me upload them for some reason.awesome man, congrats!! time to change your car on the forum account page
mind sharing what you paid and what accessories you got?
That's awesome. Hope it works out for you. They should just give you the car monday and ship the dealer another demo! ahahahYeah I'm going to update it lol. That's exactly what he's trying to accomplish. The regular salesman that I've been dealing with tried to tell me $62k on the price. I can tell you now that I'm not going to pay that. I originally went there because when I first called they gave me a price of $10k above msrp and I told them I wouldn't be doing business with them and then 2 days later they called me and asked how my experience was and I said well I wasn't going to come in because they're overcharging. And then he told me he would sell it to me for MSRP so that's when I started dealing with them seriously. I don't mind paying a little bit over msrp because I do want the car how it currently sits with the accessories but I'm not going to pay $10k over msrp I can guarantee you that. Looking to pay between msrp and $55k at the most with the accessories. We'll see what Monday brings. I'm off work and I have the Sales Managers cell phone number and was instructed to call him late Monday morning. That's awesome. Hope it works out for you. Hello everyone,
I have owned a 2017 Type R and I currently own a 2020 Type R. I am trading my car 2020 Type R in for a 2024 Integra Type S. I had a local dealership give me the keys on Friday night.
First impressions. I absolutely love the seats, they are VERY comfortable and I felt held in really well, I was pleasantly surprised how bolstered they were and how close to the Type R they are in comfort and feeling planted and secure in the seat.
Shifting: was a amazing and the clutch is SUPER LIGHT compared to my FK8. I was shocked how easy it was to drive. I was impressed at how easily/fast it revs. There's no question the car is tuned differently compared to the FK8.
Turbo: Very responsive and I could hear it spool up which was very nice. I couldn't hear the BPV though but a filter or intake would fix that, however the stock intake is actually pretty nice but I like my turbo noises.
Heat soak: I experienced absolutely NO heatsoak from the intercooler from what I could tell, my FK8 heats up fast and you can feel the decrease in power. From what I could tell they got the cooling right this time.
I took the car up to over 65mph(not going to specify exact speed but suffice it to say I was able to test out acceleration at different speeds)I had several opportunities to open up the gears. You can feel the power and you can feel it pull you down the road.
Overall I was VERY impressed with the car. The power was consistent and repeatable throughout the drive. When pressing the accelerator it just wants to take off, you can definitely feel the torque in the low rpm band. The gearing is definitely different from my Type R. Not exactly sure what or how they changed it but the gearing is different it seemed shorter to me.
I can't say enough how impressed I was with how responsive it was. I didn't expect it to be such a noticeable difference in acceleration compared to my FK8. With how the tuned it and setup the gearing it "felt" like it was closer to 350hp instead of 320hp. But that could be a combination of the lightened flywheel, different gearing, and different tune. It's definitely setup for low to mid range power which would make sense with how Acura has described the car. I drove exclusively in Sport+. The ride is overall a different experience from the FK8. When driving it I quickly forgot about having LogR or "fun" looking gauges because the car itself was so much fun. I had a smile from ear to ear.
Rev Matching: HUGE IMPROVEMENT HERE, It Rev matches on Upshift and Downshift and it's so fast that you don't even realize it's Rev matching which compared to my FK8 I have Rev Matching TURNED OFF, I absolutely hate it in my FK8 because it's so slow.
Where the care lacks in "creature comforts" it 100% makes up for it in regards to the performance. You can tell the attention to detail in the performance. It felt more like a Sports Car than my 2020 Type R.
What this car IS NOT: This is NOT a Sports Sedan. This is NOT a luxury sedan.
This is 100% a factory production Sports Car. Once you drive it you will understand why I say this. I will admit I am a Honda Fan boy so my opinion might be a little biased but I tried my best to be as objective as I could and to pay attention to as many details as I could. The shifter just simply fell right into the gears without any specific effort. It is THE BEST 3 pedal Sports car I have ever driven in regards to the transmission. Its smooth, extremely easy, I experienced no "notchyness", and the effortless shifts made it an absolute dream to drive.
Honda/Acura built this car right. The entire car communicates to you while driving in regards to feel and responsiveness. Is obviously not the fastest car I've ever driven as I have a 800whp Honda Civic which is an absolute beast. But this is the fastest 4 cylinder Honda/Acura I've ever driven from the factory. And you can feel and you experience the work and engineering that went into this car. It feels light, doesn't feel heavy at all. I was surprised at how still the engine was as far as engine movement is concerned, however I would like to see some Dyno Runs to actually see the engine movement with my own eyes. I feel very confident that these cars are going to Dyno higher than what Honda/Acura has stated on the HP, I would be surprised if I'm wrong here. Again could just be some bias here but we'll see once dyno runs are completes.
To make a long story short, I'm buying 1. I like the white with red interior and black badging with illumination and carbon fiber goodies. I'm working on getting it for MSRP. And I'm being offered a very competitive price for my Type R. Hopefully I can get a good interest rate and at the correct price.
In my opinion:
Is $52k pricey? Yes.
Is the ITS worth $52k? IMHO Absolutely. I could feel and experience where the value is and it was where it really mattered at least for what I'm looking for. I'm a more performance oriented preferenced guy and don't care much for creature comforts and besides it reminds me a lot of how the 2017 Type R was released, it didn't have a lot of creature comforts but the performance was there so I'm not surprised at all which how this care was designed, built, and is being sold.
I would like to say I don't understand why so many people are complaining about the ITS because of sunroof and vents and all these other silly requirements they have. If you don't like stop complaining and don't buy it because you obviously don't appreciate what Honda/Acura has done here. I definitely do. And in my opinion they have delivered.
Now on to a couple of things that I didn't like. I do wish it had gauges for the engine like the FL5. Oil temp, intake temp and ect.
I would have liked to have had a more performance oriented gauge cluster and I do think that is a fail and I would have liked to have navigation, one thing my Type R does excellent at is the navigation one of my favorite features. And I would have really liked to have had cooled seats seeing as Florida gets super hot here.
That's really my only 3 complaints if you will lol.
If I was to give it a rating out of 10 I would give it a 9 out of 10 with 10 being the best.
I apologize if my comments aren't of a consistent flow. I tried to think of as much information as I could while being informative. I'm not used to writing articles or reviews. I'm just a guy giving my impressions of my drive with years of experience behind the wheel of 2 different FK8 Type R's. And if your wondering my 2020 Type R is stock with a PRL High Flow Intake.
If anyone thinks of any questions or concerns you would like to bring up feel free to ask and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability if I can. I know this was long winded but I appreciate you taking the time to read as these are all things I've personally wanted to know that no one has mentioned in any reviews up to this point. Thanks.

Keep us posted on what you end up working out with the dealer. $6k worth of accessories for only $3k would be a pretty good deal. That's exactly what he's trying to accomplish.
