I stumbled across what I thought was a Type-S review on Youtube, but it turned out to be an ad for a (quite possibly the first) used 2024 Type-S up for grabs in Missouri... for the low low price of $62,500... only 181 miles... who's pulling out their checkbook?

That's clearly someone who got in on an MSRP priced car and is now trying to flip it for a huge profit. Not a single accessory installed on that car that I can see. It's obviously not a dealer demo because they aren't allowed to sell those for at least 90 days. 62.5k jesus christ...

Hahaha that's a good friend of mine since elementary. He got one of the pre-orders to resell - deposits on 5 of them, in fact. Meanwhile I'm sitting here still waiting for my pre-order from the only other Acura dealer right down the road with no news other than it's just sitting there at the plant lot - supposedly.

Supposedly dealers (at least some) can sell demo vehicles after 30 days--though it may not be wise for them to do so if Acura continues to delay reservation and regular allocation deliveries.

I don't know that I'd call it a huge profit.....my final invoice was 61.6k with just a few lines of add-ons and doc fees. $4500 in tax helps get you there pretty quick.

Agreed, it only makes sense if you live in a state where you either pay low to zero taxes to begin with, or the state allows you to only pay tax on the difference between trade in and purchase so you can realize the gain and offset the taxes on trade in for a more expensive car. Doubt you are getting $62K on trade in though :)

Not exactly sure why other than the sort of what second step dealers do with the Type R. I wasn't aware he was setting it at that point - but who knows, maybe it's pretty negotiable 🤷🏽‍♂️

May be hard to believe judging by this one thing, but he's actually a truly phenomenal type of person. He does a ton for the people around him.

For what it's worth, it's one thing for Acura dealerships to markup vs. second step dealers like this also. The 2 business models are just so different.

I mean, buying it from him makes it used, which would personally fuck up my financing. Now, if he sells me his preorder for the exact color combo I want then sure, I'd probably throw him 1-2k, but no way in hell I'm paying anything other than MSRP AND having to accept the used interest rate when I could just wait lol.

Ain't second step nothing bro, it's scalping. More power to him I suppose, even if I had money I wouldnt scalp cars nor concert tickets. But at least it ain't hand sanitizer during the height of pandemic 🤣
