There are few things that contribute to the outcome 1) ITS has a lower and slightly better torque curve which aids launch and power delivery resulting in marginally better straight line acceleration.....it is likely slightly easier to launch. 2) as others have observed, the track was very rough which may have nullified the firmer Race suspension setting in this test. In fact when I pushed the ITS hard in Sport suspension mode, it was very well suited on the street and would not have needed the CTR race setting. But, on a longer very high speed and smooth track the Race setting would have likely reduced the lap time.

The relevance of this test is that in "real world" non-track situations the ITS appears to be the better tool. If an owner plans to race, likely modding the car, the CTR would be the preferred starting point. For occasional tracking or HPD on less than perfect track surfaces or aggressive street driving I'd favor the ITS.

Yeah I don't think I'd be considering this car if I had kids in the backseat regularly. I hear you there.

you guys are nuts. This thing will be a great dad car … throw some baseball gear into the back and hit the road. Plenty legroom for younger kids. Good sound system to bump their NF tunes. No carbon fiber seat backs to worry about getting banged up (M3 buckets .. yikes) …if armrests are that important I’m sure there is a leather covered pillow that could be used as a solution. I might grab one.

there are long USB cords and charging blocks if needed. My kids miss 120V outlets when they don’t have them for their Nintendo switches … most cars don’t have those so I’m not mad (we have them in our Yukon and Sierra HD, they’re great).

These are all great points. Doesn’t matter much to me as the only kids that will be routinely going in my back seat have 4 legs and no opposable thumbs.

this car will be well suited to that variety as well!

The ITS and the CTR are well-suited for family needs. My two kids will be plenty comfortable in the backseat.

I have a x3m as a family suv and with 1 baby and a young child its way more than enough room, i cant see how the ITS cant be enough. I still use my x3m for construction duties when i do work for my real estate cause materials can be huge sometimes

Lol. Had a Prius with 3 car seats in back and used it for many road trips that were 9+ hours. I have never been a fan of large vehicles.

I saw a rear armrest sold in Japan for older Civics - not sure how it mounts, has a hook in front. I'll look for something like that if I get a Type R or ITS. Just annoying to have to go ghetto on your $52k car luxury car.

We drove our two kids around in a Subaru Ascent in the US, and now here in Taiwan they're quite happy in the back of our Ford Focus hatchback, although it has a center armrest and tons of legroom (37" I think). They also love the B&O sound system.

I think in the US we are brainwashed to think we need a giant vehicle.

Parking right next to my 1986 integra coupe, I was surprised to see it was only about 1' longer. It feels a LOT bigger.
