It is officially cold winter now.

Anyone have a remote start installed for a manual transmission Aspec integra yet?
OEM dealer install?

If not OEM,
I found a reputable shop that will install a Compustar for our Integra Aspec MT.
Any recs on which one? Pro T13, T12, Pro R5?
Thanks!

I don't think anyone has a harness yet for the 11th Gen civic or teggy. I do like Fortin since they post all info online and don't force you to find an installer.

Following. Not a pressing thing for me, but something I may want to add next winter after we get through this one. 😄

Compustar says they support both the 11th gen civic MT and integra MT on their website.

You need to splice into the harness. Plugnplay T-Harness not available.
Also it seems the FL5/DE5 isn't compatible for some reason at least on Fortin website. These are excluded but the base 6 speed is compatible. Not sure what would be different.

I had a Compustar CM-X installed in my ITS about 2 mos ago, figured I'd share my experience.

It works OK but has some drawbacks. For one Compustar doesnt support a secure takeover for the car yet so when remotely started the car will shut off when you unlock and open the door, needing to be started again manually. Additionally after installation you'll get a keyless entry system problem warning on the gauge cluster -- the installer thought this would go away after a few key cycles but it has not. I've been OK to ignore it.

Finally, reservation mode (the process that has you exit the car with it running and in neutral to allow for a safer install in a manual transmission car) has some peculiarities that dont make it well suited to a 4 door car. There are several programming options for the reservation mode but none of them is a great fit for a car used as a family car. The reservation mode will abort, meaning the remote start cannot be triggered, if any door or the tailgate is opened after the driver door is closed while shutting down. The programming options theoretically allow for it to arm 10 seconds after the last door closes, but when that option is selected it all still ends up being tied to the driver door. It could be limitations of the data available on the CAN bus or just that the firmware of the CLX isnt written to look for the data thats available, either way it means if I have the kids in the car I need to get them out of their car seats and out of the car before closing the driver's door if I want to use remote start. I did buy the Firsttech option programmer for the CLX and have tried a lot of different configuration combinations to get where we are at now. It would be great if Firsttech (who makes Compustar) eventually updates their firmware to support the car fully but the installing dealer was told not to expect anything when he called support to talk about it.

As Integra23 said in the last posting, it does appear the FL5 and DE5 are different from the base 2023 Integra enough that some of these issues might not be a problem with a 1.5L.

For me, as we drive this car daily in the snow and nearly always park outdoors, the point of the remote start is to let us have the cabin warmed up and on snowy days have any ice starting to melt off before leaving. Even with the limitations of the install it still has value for us because on days when bad or extra cold weather is expected we can spend the extra few minutes to make sure it will be ready to use, but for the average person who might just want the AC primed for them every day it might be tedious if you are not the only person using the car.

I'm inconsistent with putting the car in gear when I park. Might accidently start it into a wall one day.

Nawfoo, newer remote starters use something called "reservation mode" when being installed on manual transmissions. Think of reservation mode like a turbo timer -- it requires you to put the transmission in neutral and exit the car with it running -- then the remote starter actually shuts the car down for you some time after you've closed the door. Because of this it's not possible for the car to be in gear when you exit, otherwise it would jump into the wall when you took your foot off the clutch to leave. As a backup the remote starter also has a G sensor on it that looks for movement during the car start and aborts if it sees movement from the car during the remote start.
