Hi friends,

I recently installed an OBD2 display to show me temps, pressures, etc. The one thing I really wanted was Oil Temperature and pressure. The software engineer is willing to add to the code for an update, but the car is new, and not all the parameters are mapped yet on this device.

Does anybody have a OBD2 scanner that's able to query the PID (Parameter ID) for oil temp in our car? Somebody scan it!

This is what I purchased and the store owner has been helpful but without the PID or having a car for him to inspect (he lives in china), I wont be able to access oil temp and/or pressures.

Any other advice is welcome, thanks!

There isn't an oil temp sensor. It's calculated on the Type R.

I also would love to know the oil pressure PID since I can't find it through OBDLink or Torque.

I was planning a thermostatic oil cooler/heat exchanger from Hel, it is supposed to have two ports to allow adding a temp/pressure sensor. I wonder where the sensors come from and connect to?

Not sure if this helps, but I've had luck using the Torque app to find PIDs on my car. Might be worth giving that a try if you haven't already?

Standard sensors you'd find anywhere as long as the bung fits. Racing supply places like Pegasus often have them.

They would connect to a gauge you'd wire up in the cabin. There's no ecu connection I'm aware of.

So I purchased an ELM OBD2 Bluetooth and ran "Car Scanner" app to search all available sensors/metrics/logs and there is NOTHING my DE5 is displaying on oil temperature or pressure.

It is amazing that oil metrics are not even considered in the background in a turbocharged performance car. Using the failure point of other surrogate symptoms is not my idea for confidence when the plan is to track this car. I'll look into adding an oil temp option to the HEL oil cooler kit I just purchased.... wow Honda.... not cool.

With Hondata you can apparently see oil pressure on the DE5, but as others have said the oil temp metric is a calculation on the FL5 so you wouldn't see it. Think the oil pressure PID just isn't showing up with the typical OBD scanner stuff without specific indexing.
