So I was able to take my ITS on the first long road trip and it was quite enjoyable, minus the rock into the windshield that introduced a 6-7" crack low on the passenger side. I was I-35 SB heading into San Antonio and the last few miles before the 410 loop are horrible, grooved, narrow lanes and a mess. Took about 3 rock hits I could hear but thought I was ok because no crack. Did my meeting the next day and came out to leave to discover the crack. The hit was down low so I had not noticed from the driver's seat. Immediately reached out to my local glass shop and it will be $2650.86 including the camera calibration. Luckily insurance is going to cover the $300 to redo the tint also, and after learning about camera calibration on my 2016 MDX I reduced my deductible to $100......

Just read something similar on the Civic forums which is making me think I may need to look into insurance covering this...

I also had a rock hit on a car about 6 years ago that initially didn't show up until I came back about 3-4 hours later. The car was sitting out in the sun so it had time to develop a nice disappointing surprise when I got back.

Yeah can confirm mine took a hit 3rd day into ownership and cracked right near the HUD. I tracked down the gravel truck company that threw the debris at me and made them pay for it. Their insurance covered it after a little back and forth and it was $2,400 after calibration and disposal fees.

Did they not have a cover over the truck bed or something? Curious how you convinced them it was their fault?

Yeah no cover on the back and I watched the piece fly right out of the back of the truck and hit my windshield before ever touching the ground. Luckily I reacted quickly and got my phone out and he was getting off on the same exit of the highway as me and took a picture of it without the tarp with the license plate and company logo in view. I tracked the company down online and called/emailed them. They were nice and didn't put up a fight luckily and just pushed me through to their insurance carrier. They called with a few questions and then just told me to set up the replacement wherever I wanted and paid for it ahead of time. Don't think i'll get that lucky again though but it's always worth a try to reach out to them.

Glad it worked out for you - other than the hassle - but that's free ;)

Here is a picture of the rock a millisecond after it hit my windshield. The star in the glass is just under the car in front of me (black blob is the stone). It was a small star. I drove right to my Safelite store all done in under an hour for goop injected into the spot. My dash cam caught the pic. No truck anywhere near me.

In my case I was driving on road under construction and was all grooved up and just a mess, had I known I would have avoided. Took at least three hits I could hear but none were visible from inside the car because it was down low, did not think to examine it externally after I got to my hotel because I was pressed for time. May have been possible to save it with an injection....oh well.

I try but it's pretty difficult given the amount of trucks and traffic pushing you along. I avoid or move to the farthest lane from them whenever I can though.

make sure the replacement is OEM, my CPO came with an aftermarket windshield and my dealer noted that it could cause my camera to prematurely fail (and not being covered by warranty) due to the different optics.

It passed cpo check with an aftermarket, unwarrantable windshield? How? The windshield is part of the safety system... 😵💫

Yes, they are getting it directly from Acura.

Yeah I had to watch Safelite when I set up mine because the online portal just wanted to use the cheaper glass so I had to call them to tell them I wanted it requoted using OEM Acura glass because of the HUD. It went from like $600 for the glass to $1,200 lol.

I hear you. It comes down to luck. I remember my dad following a truck for about 40 miles when it cracked our windshield when we were coming back from vacation.
