Well these windshield's are made of paper apparently. Had a very minor rock hit (probably only about .060" in diameter) and now I have another crack splintered out from the drivers side about 5" after having it replaced with the factory Acura glass not but 2 months ago.

I give up. Can't keep this car in nice shape no matter how hard I try to avoid damage on my commute.

My tint guys install and xpel ppf-like material on windshields Iā€™d say look into that if the roads by you are particular rocky or debris ridden. Iā€™m sorry youā€™ve had so much bad luck with this šŸ¤™

Yeah I contemplated it back a few months ago but i've seen a lot of hit or miss reviews on the clarity and other issues with it. Might have to bit the bullet after it get it replaced this next time.

I liken a ppf windshield to a heated windshield. While 99% of people will never notice the refraction and glare that results, if you are part of that 1% it's an absolute dealbreaker. Driving at night becomes very annoying to almost unbearable depending on the lighting conditions.

Yeah my other worry was the how it would work with the HUD since the windshield has that special layer in there for it.

That won't make a difference. The layer for the hud is inside the glass so placing something behind it won't be super noticeable. People also tint their windshields (the illegal way) and only report the hud being brighter. If the ppf has a slight yellow or blue tint, you might be able to pick up on the hud reflective surface more easily, but if you can't already see it then you likely won't notice.
